Country Star Lainey Wilson Captivates the Nation With a Spellbinding Performance of ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’—a Night of Raw Emotion and Untamed Spirit

“It always feels good to be back,” Wilson shared of her appearance on the late-night TV show.

Country superstar Lainey Wilson brought her latest country radio single, “Wildflowers And Wild Horses,” to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live on Tuesday evening.

The warmly lit stage set the tone for the humble tune that pays homage to the CMA Entertainer of the Year’s roots back in her hometown of Baskin, Louisiana. During the goosebumps-inducing performance, Wilson donned a bone-colored, fringe jacket featuring large, feathered sleeves paired with her signature gold bell bottoms and stylish tan cowboy hat.

Her unstoppable vocals filled the studio as she poured her heart and soul into every note of the sentimental narrative, which was further elevated by the Western setting that appeared on the screen behind her.

Story Behind The Song

Penned by Wilson alongside Trannie Anderson and Paul Sikes, “Wildflowers And Wild Horses” marks the third Broken Bow Records’ single from her GRAMMY-nominated Bell Bottom Country album, following “Heart Like A Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine.” The song impacted country radio on Monday, November 13 and earned 78 adds, making it the second most added song that week.

The 31-year-old made the television debut of her latest single during her milestone night at 57th Annual CMA Awards, which resulted in her winning five awards in total, including the top honor of the night – Entertainer of the Year. Through this performance, she highlighted the song’s meaning which salutes the hard work of the five generations of farmers in her Louisiana-based family.

“This one definitely shows that western side, it takes me back to my childhood. It takes me back to my roots,” Wilson told Country Now and other media outlets during a recent ASCAP-hosted No.1 party celebrating her hit, “Heart Like A Truck.”

Reflects Her Musical Journey

The song cleverly depicts the parallels between farming and her own journey of having to climb her way up the ladder as a country star. Along the way, she makes note of many of the ups and downs and the strength it takes to make a name for yourself in the music business or any other business venture.

“I’m five generations of blazing a trail / Through barbed wire valleys and overgrown dells / I’m barefoot and bareback and born tough as nails / Whoa, whoa, whoa / I’m four-fifths of reckless and one-fifth of jack / I push like a daisy through old sidewalk cracks / Yeah, my kinda crazy’s still running its courses with / Wildflowers and wild horses,” she delivers on the chorus.
