Fans who know the lyrics well might’ve known what was about to come next: “We didn’t have money for food or rent / To say the least we were hard-pressed / Then Mama spent every last penny we had / To buy me a dancin’ dress.”

It didn’t take long before Reba was shedding the robe for her own dancin’ dress, a flowing, sleeveless red V-neck number paired with red high heels. It was a fun enough switch on its own, but that was the first, not the last, of Reba’s quick-changes.

As the song progressed, Reba gained in momentum, eventually tearing off her red dress to reveal a strappy sequined jumpsuit as the audience went wild. It was a well-deserved diva moment for one of country’s most accomplished women of all time.

Among those who loved the performance was none other than Garth Brooks, who was caught on camera exclaiming, “That was f–king awesome!”

Although Reba had the most exciting outfit changes of the night, other performances created plenty of buzz of their own. An undisputed fan-favorite was the group rendition of Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” which featured a solo from this year’s winner for New Artist of the Year, Ashley McBryde.

SOME CALLED HER TROUBLE — TOBY CALLED HER “WHISKEY GIRL.” Rumor has it, the idea came one late night in a Nashville bar, where Toby watched a woman laugh louder than the music itself. She wore dusty boots, had a scar on her left wrist, and ordered whiskey neat — no ice, no hesitation. “That right there,” he told Scotty Emerick, “is a whole damn song.” When “Whiskey Girl” hit the airwaves in 2004, it wasn’t just another country hit — it was a mirror of Toby himself: unfiltered, confident, and full of attitude. Lines like “She’s my little whiskey girl, my ragged-on-the-edges girl” weren’t just lyrics; they were a toast to every woman who dances to her own rhythm and every man who’s ever been brave enough to keep up. Just the kind that make life worth singing about.
