Ronan Keating fights back tears as he says an emotional goodbye to Magic Radio Breakfast after seven years with a heartfelt performance of “When You Say Nothing At All”.

Ronan Keating fought back tears as he delivered an emotional performance during his last last Breakfast Show on Magic Radio studios on Wednesday.

The Irish singer, 47, announced last month that he would be stepping down after co-hosting the popular show alongside Harriet Scott for the last seven years.

During the broadcast Ronan treated listeners to a special performance of his hits Life is a Rollercoaster and When You Say Nothing At All.

He also sang a rendition of the George Michael classic Faith, before he left the studio to applause from staff who lined the corridors.

Ronan was presented with gifts and shared a hug with Harriet before signing off from the airwaves for one final time.

The hitmaker cut a casual figure in a light blue shirt teaming it with a white vest underneath.

To complete the look, Ronan sported a pair of beige chino trousers and opted for a pair of suede boots.

Meanwhile Harriet cut a stylish figure in a black leather midi skirt and sported it with a white T-shirt.

It comes after Ronan announced that he is leaving the Magic Radio Breakfast show after seven years, live on air during a show.

The Boyzone star became a co-host on the morning show alongside Harriet in September 2017.

Speaking on the morning show, he revealed he was stepping down from presenting, with his last show on July 31, but said he would remain in the Magic Radio family.

Ronan insisted it had been a ‘difficult decision’, but that he wanted to get back to his music career and spend more time with his family.

Addressing the listeners live on air in the studio, Ronan said: ‘It’s been very difficult for me to come to this conclusion, and to make this decision.’

‘I wanted our listeners, our Magic Breakfast listeners and our Magic Radio listeners to be the first to know.

‘That after seven years and so many incredible shows, I’ve decided to stand down from Magic Breakfast at the end of July.’

‘I have loved every single minute, this has not been an easy decision at all. I came on board as you know for a year, maybe two and I’ve loved the job so much that I’ve stayed here for seven.’

‘We’ve had an amazing time and we’ve been through some incredibly emotional times with people at home.’

‘Those two years that the world changed. It was an honour to be able to be in people’s homes and communicate with them like we did.’

Speaking to co-host Harriet, he continued: ‘So yeah, although I won’t be waking the nation up anymore with you, I look forward to, I guess reconnecting with what I did before this – you know getting back to my music and touring. Even though I’ve been doing it, trying to do both together has not been easy at times.’

‘And getting back to being with my family – you know doing school runs and those things that I’ve missed out on. Waking up with my wife in the morning, you know? I know it sounds ridiculous but it’s really important and I’ve missed that.’

He went on to pay tribute to Harriet and thank the listeners and crew, saying: ‘What I’ve realised is how incredible it is to connect with people.’

‘The medium of radio is so powerful, more powerful than anything else in this modern age. And it’s been a real honour to broadcast and be considered a radio broadcaster.’

‘You [Harriet] and I, they put us together. Who knew that this could work?! It’s been incredible. I’m going to miss you. It’d been an amazing seven years.’

‘A massive thank you to everybody for the love you’ve shown me, the love you’ve shown this show for the last seven years. It’d been incredible.’

After the news, Harriet gushed: ‘Well what can I say, I’m heartbroken that I’ll soon no longer be sharing my mornings with my sidekick, but I’m also absolutely delighted for him to be embarking on his next chapter.’

‘Ronan is one of a kind and I know we haven’t seen the last of him here at Magic!’

50 YEARS AGO, 7 COLLEGE KIDS STARTED ACTING IN AN 88-SEAT CHURCH BASEMENT. LAST NIGHT, ONE OF THEM HELD HER 3RD TONY. Laurie Metcalf just won Best Featured Actress in a Play at the 79th Tony Awards for her role as Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman — alongside Nathan Lane, directed by Joe Mantello. This is her 3rd Tony. Her 7th nomination. But what she did at Radio City Music Hall wasn’t about the numbers. She stood up there and named 6 people. Not agents. Not producers. Six college friends from Illinois State University who started Steppenwolf Theatre together — in a church basement. Gary Sinise. John Malkovich. Jeff Perry. Terry Kinney. Moira Harris. Al Wilder. “I still consider them family,” she said. “I still draw on lessons I learned from them.” After everything — the Emmys, the Oscar nomination, decades on Roseanne — the first people she thanked were the ones who knew her before any of it mattered. Some things don’t change, even after 50 years.

THEY FIRED HIM ON A TUESDAY. BY SATURDAY, HE WAS SMILING ON A SAILBOAT. Scott Pelley spent 37 years at CBS News. He anchored the Evening News. He reported from war zones. He won dozens of Emmys. And last week, on his new boss’s very first day, he stood up in a staff meeting and said what nobody else would. He told executive producer Nick Bilton he’d “never be welcome here.” He accused CBS chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” 60 Minutes. But what Pelley claimed they asked him to do behind the scenes — that part changes everything. Within 24 hours, he was handed a termination letter. Fired “for cause.” 37 years, gone in a single page. Then Saturday morning, he posted a photo on Instagram. No anger. Just him at the helm of a sailboat, hands on the wheel, American flag behind him, looking out at open water. His only words: “You are the wind in my sails. So deeply grateful.”
