Britain’s Got Talent Star Sydnie Christmas Chooses the Classroom Over Fame – Here’s Why

Sydnie Christmas has revealed she’s going back to school despite winning £250,000 on Britain’s Got Talent.

The singer, 29, who triumphed on Britain’s Got Talent last year, has revealed she’s returning to school to finish her credentials.

Before finding fame on the ITV talent show, Sydnie worked at a central London gym. Now, even after her big win, she’s determined to complete her Level 3 personal training qualification.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: ‘I’m going back to school in March. I’m going to finish my level three PT qualification. It’s good to have something, just incase.’

One thing Sydnie definitely doesn’t miss, however, is the daily commute. Recalling a particularly tough experience, she admitted: ‘A week before my audition, I got off my first bus at 4am, there was sick down the back of my coat. It was rough.’

It comes after Sydnie took to the stage to perform in front of King Charles at the Royal Variety Performance in London’s Royal Albert Hall last year.

The singer bagged her place on the annual show after her Britain’s Got Talent win in June.

She joined the likes of Eurovision winner Nemo, treble Brit Award winner James Bay and Sophie Ellis-Bextor who performed her latest hit and much loved classic ‘Murder on The Dance Floor’.

Sydnie looked sensational in an embellished strapless gown with silver jewellery and heels.

The BGT winner was accompanied by Dave Arch and The Royal Variety Orchestra for her award-winning performance as she belted out her song Believer on stage.

The annual fundraising event returned to London‘s Royal Albert Hall and saw a string of famous faces perform.

Queen Camilla, who had been due to attend, was forced to pull out at the last minute after suffering from ‘lingering post-viral symptoms’ from a nasty chest infection.

Amanda Holden and her TV husband Alan Carr teamed up to present the highly anticipated show.

The duo have won viewers over in their two documentary series Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job and Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job, with the latter recently renewed for a third season.

Their hilarious dynamic is a hit with fans, who love the TV personalities separately, but even more so as a pair.

Speaking ahead of the show Alan said: ‘I am completely thrilled to be asked back to host the Royal Variety Performance so soon, what a compliment and an honour!’

‘To be able to host this magical evening with my best friend and TV wife Amanda Holden is the icing on the cake for me.’

‘If I have half as much fun as I did three years ago, well we are all in for a real treat.’

Amanda said: ‘It truly is such an honour to be hosting the Royal Variety Performance this year. I’m still pinching myself!’

‘This is a dream job and Alan is a true friend, we are already bursting with ideas and excitement, it’s going to be such a fun night!’

‘I’ve worked on Britain’s Got Talent for 18 years and have been so proud watching all our winners perform for the Royal Family.’

‘This year will be no different, so in the words of Sydnie Christmas, let’s av it!’
