During their 2024 concert at the legendary Arena di Verona, the Italian operatic pop trio joined forces with a full orchestra to take on the iconic Queen ballad. What happened next gave the entire crowd goosebumps.

From the first note, the audience was swept into an emotional wave. The group’s signature harmonies soared through the Roman arena, echoing off the ancient stone and wrapping around every listener. It was grand, moving, and deeply respectful — everything fans would hope for in a tribute to Freddie.

Il Volo may be known for blending classical vocals with modern hits, but this performance felt like something even more. It was heartfelt. Epic. And exactly how Freddie would have wanted his song to be performed.

Originally released by Queen in 1986 as part of their A Kind of Magic album, “Who Wants to Live Forever” was written by guitarist Brian May for the soundtrack of the fantasy film Highlander.

The song stands out for its haunting melody and emotional lyrics, which reflect themes of love, loss, and the idea of immortality. Freddie Mercury’s powerful delivery turned it into one of Queen’s most memorable ballads, often leaving audiences in awe.
