Country star Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi, recently welcomed their second child — a son named Oliver — and the singer is opening up about family life, sleepless nights, and major career news.
A NEW BABY BOY FOR THE MCCREERY FAMILY
On September 18, Scotty and Gabi became parents of two with the arrival of baby Oliver McCreery. The former American Idol winner admitted that the past few days have been both joyful and overwhelming.
Speaking on the Big D & Bubba radio show, Scotty said: “It’s been a whirlwind the last few days.”When asked if he has been able to get any sleep, McCreery explained that while he tells his wife to wake him if she needs help, there’s one task he simply can’t do.
“I’ve told her [Gabi] if you need help, wake me up. But there’s only so much that I can do at this point as I’m not equipped to help out, totally,” he joked, acknowledging that breastfeeding falls solely on his wife.
LIFE WITH TWO KIDS: “MAN-TO-MAN DEFENSE”
Now a father of two, McCreery described the change in family dynamics. “We’ve gone from zone defense to man-to-man, so we’re all over the house,” he said, adding that while he and Gabi aren’t ruling out more children, for now, they are focused on adjusting to life with Oliver and catching up on sleep.
The country singer also revealed that he carefully planned his schedule to be home for the birth. His tour resumes in November 2025, giving him precious family time before returning to the road.
SCOTTY MCCREERY’S CAREER MILESTONE WITH “BOTTLE ROCKETS”
Even while celebrating new fatherhood, McCreery is also marking a major professional achievement. His single “Bottle Rockets,” featuring Hootie & the Blowfish, recently soared to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.
The collaboration, built around Hootie’s 1995 hit “Hold My Hand,” credits 11 writers including McCreery, Darius Rucker, and producer Frank Rogers. According to Luminate, the song gained 14% in audience impressions, reaching 30.5 million between Sept. 19-25.
This milestone places Rucker in rare company with Tyler Hubbard as the only artists to top Country Airplay both solo and as part of a group. It also marks another success for McCreery’s label, Triple Tigers, which now boasts back-to-back Country Airplay No. 1 hits.
