Behind the polished red carpets and calm statements, new reports claim Keith Urban was furious over Nicole Kidman’s bold new movie, Babygirl — calling it “too much, too revealing, and nothing like the woman he knew.” Sources close to the couple say the film’s intense romantic scenes and raw themes became a breaking point in their already fragile marriage. “He didn’t even like her promoting it,” one insider revealed. “Keith felt it crossed a line — he was embarrassed, not by Nicole’s acting, but by how personal it felt.” Fans quickly noticed that Keith skipped every Babygirl premiere appearance — and that Nicole arrived solo, her smile tight, her eyes distant. The movie, meanwhile, has gone viral for its emotional chaos and fearless performances — but now, many are wondering if it came at too high a price.

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the headlines that longtime Hollywood power couple Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are officially over, after Kidman filed for divorce earlier this week. They had been separated and living apart since the beginning of summer when Keith moved out.

The rumor from several sources is that Kidman was trying to save the marriage, and that it was Urban who wanted out, but either way, it’s sad to see this nearly two-decade marriage come to an end.

Of course, you never know what’s really going on behind closed doors, but the two of them always appeared very much in love, and they often spoke publicly about their seemingly strong marriage and life together. They share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, and it’s just heartbreaking all-around, especially for their kids.

They were married for 19 years, and first met in 2005 after meeting at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles. Urban talked about his wife’s “otherworldly era,” saying he was incredibly nervous to talk to her and felt like he was meeting a “real life princess.” He eventually worked up the nerve to ask for her number, though it still took him a while to actually call her.

Once he did, their connection was instant and the rest is history. They were married the following year in 2006:

“I was trying to play it cool, but inside, I felt like I had snuck into the royal ball. Simply because Nic has such a truly otherworldly era about her, and I felt a bit like I was meeting a real life princess… and despite all of that, I did manage to get her phone number on a tiny piece of paper, and I carried that number in my pocket for well over a week.

I’d pull it out and look at it… I was just scared. I was nervous to call her, and as prone as I might have been at the time to all sorts of delusional thinking, even I couldn’t stretch that to think this extraordinary would ever see anything in a guy like me. And that’s not me being humble, that’s literally how I saw myself and her. I did, as you’ve probably figured out, work up the courage to finally call her.

We started talking, and we just talked and talked like we’d known each other our whole lives. It turned out that this mystic creature was really just a wide eyed, vivacious, giddy girl from the Sydney suburbs, and despite being born in Honolulu, she was utterly Aussie through and through.”

With news of the divorce, many people have been speculating as to what exactly went down, and the video of Keith Urban (allegedly) abruptly hanging up during an interview on Australia’s Mix 102.3 with Hayley & Max in the Morning has resurfaced, as the host got pretty personal in asking Urban about some rather inappropriate topics, to be honest.

They brought up his soon-to-be ex-wife, who was in a movie with Zac Efron called A Family Affair where they play lovers, which includes some steamy scenes, and Buford asked:

“What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?”

Buford waited for Urban’s response, but there was only silence. He then looked at his producer, asking what had happened, to which he was informed that Keith Urban had disconnected from the Zoom call:

“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question. He’s gone, see you Keith.”

So it’s obvious he was probably not a fan seeing that, as I don’t think any husband would be, even if your wife is an incredibly famous actress like Kidman. Later on, a source claimed that Urban did not hang up and it was someone else, so it could’ve been his publicist, but who knows.

According to another source who spoke with Page Six following the divorce announcement says that Urban really didn’t like Kidman’s movie more recent movie Babygirl, which was extremely explicit (much more than the one with Efron) and I heard had some really far out there scenes (something about her acting like a cat during a “romantic” scene?), and was definitely not a family friendly movie, to put it mildly.

The source claims that Keith was not a fan of the movie, and didn’t even like that she was promoting it:

“Keith didn’t like the film and he didn’t even like Nicole promoting the movie.”

I mean, I can’t really blame him for that, but it’s certainly not the first time she’s had a wacky role or steamy scenes in a movie, so I’m sure his alleged annoyance with it probably had more to do with much deeper marital issues.

I’m sure it’s just one of many things that contributed to the end of their marriage.

It was supposed to be just another glamorous night at Paris Fashion Week — until Nicole Kidman did something no one saw coming. After the Chanel runway show wrapped, the Oscar winner stepped onto the stage hand-in-hand with her daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith, 14, and whispered into the mic, “I’m just an actress… but tonight, I’m singing for my heart, for my girls, and for every woman who’s ever had to start again.” The lights dimmed. The orchestra fell silent. Then, Nicole began to sing — a haunting ballad she had written herself, filled with raw lines about love, loss, and letting go. Her voice trembled, cracked, then soared. By the chorus, both daughters had joined in, harmonizing softly through tears. As the final note faded, the three held each other in a long embrace — no acting, no glamour, just truth. Amid all the noise of headlines and heartbreak, one quiet rumor has surfaced — and it’s left fans everywhere holding their breath. Sources close to the studio claim Keith Urban recorded a private acoustic track, one never meant for release, titled simply “For My Girls.” No label. No promotion. Just Keith, his guitar, and a dimly lit room late one night. One engineer who was there whispered, “He played the same chords over and over until his voice cracked. Then he said, ‘This one’s for my girls — not for the world.’” The track, reportedly sealed on a small tape meant only for Sunday and Faith, has become the stuff of quiet legend. No one outside the family has heard it — and maybe no one ever will. But that’s what makes it so hauntingly beautiful: the idea that somewhere, tucked away in a drawer or memory box, there’s a love song written not for fame… but for family.
