On the latest episode of The Voice Season 28, country singer Kayleigh Clark left all four coaches speechless with a deeply moving performance inspired by her father’s battle with addiction.
Clark’s emotional story and powerful vocals earned her a coveted 4-chair turn, proving her as one of the season’s standout talents.

Taking the stage for her Blind Audition, Clark performed Sugarland’s “Stay”, sharing the personal story behind her rendition. She revealed that her father, who had struggled with alcoholism, gave her her first guitar but their relationship had been strained over the years.

Determined to process her experiences and help others in similar situations, she used the performance to highlight the importance of family, forgiveness, and resilience.
Her father, now sober for three years, watched proudly as she performed, culminating in an emotional interaction with the coaches. Michael Bublé, visibly moved, presented Clark’s dad with a football and said, “What a cool moment to get to watch your kid that you love more than anybody you’ll ever know… makes me emotional… I got four beautiful kids; I’m so happy for you guys!”

The performance was not only an emotional highlight but also had moments of levity. Reba McEntire added a humorous touch by mimicking a melancholy trombone sound from her chair, lightening the mood. Ultimately, Clark chose Niall Horan as her coach, prompting him to jokingly admit, “I could become… a country coach. Who would have thought?”
About her original song “Discounted”
In addition to her The Voice performance, Clark wrote an original song titled “Discounted” to help others with family members struggling with substance abuse. The track tells the story of kids from broken homes striving for more than their circumstances allow, delivering both raw emotion and hope. Its lyrics include:
“There’s a cheese theater on the other side of town.
You see movies 3 months after they come out.
It’s where the kids go from broken homes…
This song goes out to those of us… who know just what it means to have everything from your dreams to the jeans you’re walking around and discounted…
Let it go. Keep smiling. Do the work. Show the world you’re priceless.”
The song showcases Clark’s songwriting talent and her ability to connect with listeners through deeply personal experiences, making her a rising star to watch both on and off the stage.
