NBC executives have reportedly held crisis talks with The Voice coach Snoop Dogg after his controversial remarks about same-sex couples in film sparked a firestorm of backlash, The U.S. Sun has learned.
The 53-year-old rapper’s rant about Disney’s Lightyear, a Toy Story spinoff featuring a lesbian couple, has network bosses “furious” and insiders warning this could spell the end of his run on the hit show. According to sources, the uproar is a “perfect example” of why Snoop will most likely not return after Season 28.

The drama began when Snoop shared his discomfort on the It’s Giving podcast, recounting the moment he took his grandson to see Lightyear. He revealed he was “scared to go to the movies” after learning the animated film’s protagonist had two mothers.
“They’re like, ‘She had a baby — with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’” Snoop recalled.
“‘Oh st, I didn’t come in for this st. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.’”
“‘They kept going, just said, she and she had a baby — they’re both women. How does she have a baby?’” he continued. “The experience fked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of st that I don’t have an answer for.”
His shocking comments—later censored from the podcast, according to Page Six—ignited outrage across social media, with many slamming his remarks as “homophobic.”

NBC Scrambles to Contain Fallout
The timing couldn’t be worse for NBC, as Season 28 of The Voice is set to premiere on September 22. A production insider described the situation as a nightmare for a show that prides itself on being “apolitical” and “inclusive.”
“This is the exact kind of conversation [the execs at NBC] didn’t want to be sucked into,” the insider said. “Production had to remind him that he works for an inclusive, apolitical, family-friendly show, and comments like this only go on to create a divisive environment.”

“The show does not condone the comments whatsoever,” the source stressed. “This is the opposite of the kind of spotlight they want on the show just ahead of the new season. And it just makes contestants and even some crew members not feel like the set is a safe space since they have all different kinds of people part of making this show come to life.”
Adds another insider: “He’s a liability for network TV.”
Already on Thin Ice
This isn’t the first time Snoop’s position on The Voice has been questioned. Insiders revealed he was “most likely already on his final season” even before the controversy.
“He was brought back this season per his contract but he hasn’t been working out the way everyone hoped,” a source told The U.S. Sun. “Snoop doesn’t seem entirely interested in the job anymore or invested in the contestants. He’s also one of the few coaches who hasn’t won a season yet.”

According to The Sun, Snoop was also criticized for bringing “dark” political energy to the set with his open endorsements for former President Donald Trump.
“Mutually, everyone agrees this isn’t the best gig for him,” a source admitted.

The Fallout Continues
As the backlash builds, producers are reportedly scrambling to decide Snoop’s fate on the show. With NBC bosses “seeing red” over his comments, some insiders speculate that the scandal could end his TV career altogether.
For now, NBC has not officially commented, but the heat is on and with Season 28 of The Voice just weeks away, the future of Snoop Dogg’s coaching career remains uncertain.
