Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s love story has charmed fans for years, but every so often, a single photo captures the essence of their relationship in a way that words can’t quite match. That’s exactly what happened during The Voice Season 22 Live Semifinals—a moment that remains one of the cutest, most memorable snaps in the couple’s history.
An Adorable Throwback at The Voice
During the high-stakes semifinals, Stefani and Shelton—both serving as Coaches—couldn’t resist a little playful PDA. As cameras flashed backstage, Gwen, dressed in a show-stopping head-to-toe floral bodysuit, hopped right onto Blake’s famous red Voice chair, settling comfortably in her husband’s lap. Despite being competitors that night, the pair radiated joy and ease, beaming for what would become an instant fan favorite photo.
Gwen’s signature style was on full display, with her bold fashion choices perfectly complementing Blake’s laid-back country charm. By this point, the couple had already celebrated more than a year of marriage after tying the knot in July 2021, and their chemistry was undeniable both on and off the set.
Best Friends, Biggest Fans
Their on-set sweetness is only a glimpse into a partnership built on friendship and fun. In an April 2024 interview with Access, Shelton got candid about what makes their relationship so special. “She’s my best friend; that’s the best way I know to say it, and it’s not something that we have to really think about—it’s just there,” Shelton shared. “And we have fun with it—maybe that’s the key. We have so much fun together. Whether we’re having a cup of coffee in the morning, watching a movie, or performing in an arena somewhere.”
But Shelton’s most touching comment revealed the depth of their connection—and a bittersweet sense of timing. “The only regret that we have is that we didn’t find each other until late in life, you know? But [we] also know that we had to go through everything we went through to get us to there. But we’re just grateful, and we have fun,” he said.
What’s Next for The Voice—And For Fans
Though Shelton and Stefani won’t return to The Voice for Season 28, their legacy as one of the show’s most beloved couples is secure. Meanwhile, fans can look forward to the new season’s exciting lineup of Coaches: Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, Niall Horan, and Snoop Dogg are all set to take their seats when The Voice premieres Monday, September 22 on NBC.
For now, fans can savor sweet throwback moments like Gwen perched on Blake’s lap—proof that, win or lose, their favorite musical power couple has already found the ultimate prize in each other.
