Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Set Sights on More Storytelling Projects: “I Think the Fans Will Go Crazy”

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are no strangers to chart-topping duets or headline-grabbing romance, but now, the power couple is taking their creative partnership to new heights with a modern, music-infused reimagining of a literary classic.

After teaming up on the upcoming series “Dorothy,” Shelton hints that this collaboration may be just the beginning. “Her creativity and perspective are such a natural fit. If we keep blending music, emotion, and storytelling like this, I think the fans will go crazy,” Shelton teased, sparking excitement among their devoted fanbases.

A Fresh Take on “The Wizard of Oz”

“Dorothy” is set to be a contemporary young adult retelling of L. Frank Baum’s “Wizard of Oz” books, produced by Gina Matthews, best known for “13 Going on 30.” This new series, destined for Amazon, promises to weave music and modern emotion into the iconic journey down the Yellow Brick Road — a metaphor, this time, for the real-world challenges young people face today.

“We’re really excited about all the possibilities this show brings, and I’m so grateful that Gina shared the idea with me and Lee,” Shelton said. “I knew right away it was something Gwen would connect with. Her creativity and perspective are such a natural fit for this project.”

Stefani, who joins Shelton as an executive producer, echoed his enthusiasm. “It’s a creative and modern take on a classic, and being part of something that blends music, emotion, and the character of Dorothy is inspiring to me,” she shared.

Empowering the Next Generation

For Shelton, the heart of the series lies in its empowering message. “Dorothy is a symbol of strength who shows us that with grit and kindness, you can achieve great things and lift others up,” he said. Stefani added that she hopes the series will reassure young viewers: “You’re not alone on your journey.”

Producer Gina Matthews, herself a lifelong fan of the “Oz” stories, explained the show’s mission: “The story reminds us of the qualities we need to get through hard times, and Dorothy is a symbol of strength who shows us that with a little kindness — and a lot of grit — we can not only achieve great things but also lift up those around us. I’m excited to bring that message to the world, now more than ever.”

Building a Creative Legacy Together

With a star-studded team behind the scenes, including Lucky Horseshoe’s Blake Shelton and Lee Metzger, as well as Little Engine’s Grant Scharbo and Patrick Moran, the project is poised to enchant a whole new generation of viewers.

As Grant Scharbo noted, “We’re thrilled to embark on this journey with Amazon and believe Dorothy will enchant a whole new generation of viewers.”

Patrick Moran added, “I’m such a fan of everyone involved and couldn’t ask for a more exciting partnership as we reinvent this cherished IP.”

For Shelton and Stefani, “Dorothy” is more than just a show — it’s a testament to the magic that happens when creativity, music, and heart come together. And with talk of more collaborations on the horizon, fans have plenty of reasons to look forward to the next chapter in their ongoing creative journey.
