Gwen Stefani Reveals Her Favorite Season of The Voice—And It All Started With a Kiss

Gwen Stefani’s tenure as a Coach on The Voice has been marked by standout performances, wild style moments, and a history-making victory. But for Stefani, the most cherished memory is deeply personal—and surprisingly romantic.

Finding Love and a Favorite Season

Stefani, who first joined The Voice in 2014, has served as Coach for Team Gwen over eight nonconsecutive seasons, including Seasons 7, 9, 12, 17, 19, 22, 24, and 26. In January 2025, during an appearance on TODAY, Stefani was asked to pick her favorite season. Her answer came with a trademark grin:
“Favorite season of The Voice? The season I got to kiss Blake.”

The “Blake” in question, of course, is country superstar Blake Shelton—her now-husband, whom she met on the show. Stefani previously admitted that “me and Blake were falling in love the third season” she coached. Reflecting on the journey, she’s called Shelton “a magical person” and credited The Voice for delivering a life-changing surprise. “Life is just full of surprises,” she told Hoda Kotb and Andy Cohen back in 2019.

A Romance Born On Stage

Interestingly, when Stefani first joined the singing competition, she had no idea who Shelton was. In a 2022 conversation with NBC Insider, she admitted,
“I didn’t know that Blake even existed really in the world.”
But, she added, “I did my homework and I could see that he was an amazing songwriter, and then I could see everybody falling in love with him.”

Shelton himself has echoed these sentiments, telling Entertainment Weekly in 2023 that meeting Stefani was his “favorite” part of his long Voice run. “I couldn’t even begin to tell you what my favorite memory was,” he said. “But my favorite thing that’s happened and developed was I met my wife on this show.”

A Special Wedding, A Special Friend

After years of friendship, mentorship, and playful rivalry on the red chairs, Stefani and Shelton made it official in an intimate Oklahoma wedding on July 3, 2021. Adding to the Voice family affair, longtime host and friend Carson Daly officiated the ceremony. “We knew we wanted it to be intimate, small,” Stefani told Jimmy Kimmel Live in 2022, explaining why Daly was the perfect choice. “He is an amazing guy, I love him. He’s such a good dad, a family guy… I just wanted it to be serious, and I wanted someone who is in our spiritual circle.”

Daly, for his part, shared on Instagram how “honored” he was to marry two of his closest friends.

“Home” on The Voice

After years, many seasons, and even a trophy, The Voice still means something special to Stefani. “Every time I step on this stage, The Voice does feel like home to me,” she reflected in a behind-the-scenes video in 2023.

But when it comes to picking a favorite season, nothing tops the one that sparked her real-life love story—proving that sometimes, the best moments happen when you least expect them, and that one kiss can change everything.
