Gwen Stefani’s son is proving that musical talent runs deep in the family — and fans are loving it. One fan summed it up best: “He’s not just singing the songs — he’s stepping into a legacy.”

Ever since reaching No. 1 with his first-ever single “Austin,” Blake Shelton has been a staple of country music. In 2011, he joined NBC’s hit show The Voice as a coach, taking home nine wins and remaining a fan favorite for 23 seasons. During his time on The Voice, Blake Shelton met and fell in love with former No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani. The pair married in 2021, making Shelton a stepfather to Stefani’s three sons — a role he takes very seriously. And the “Boys Round Here” singer has clearly made an impression on 16-year-old Zuma Rossdale, his middle stepson.

Gwen Stefani’s Son Zuma Is Coming For Blake Shelton’s Crown

When your stepfather is a five-time Entertainer of the Year, and your mother fronted one of the most successful ska-rock bands of all time, you pick up a few pointers. And Blake Shelton says he and wife Gwen Stefani have made a point of encouraging Zuma to forge his own musical path.

“It’s exciting for us because we hear him sit around the house playing and we’re always the one saying ‘Zuma, you gotta get out there and sing in front of people. You’re really talented,’” Shelton told the crowd July 19 at his Ole Red bar in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

With a broad grin, the “God’s Country” hitmaker, 49, welcomed “my man, Zuma Rossdale,” to the stage.

Looking every inch the part in a black cowboy hat and star-spangled guitar, Zuma treated the crowd to a string of ’90s country hits, including John Michael Montgomery’s “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident.)” He also worked in his stepfather’s 2002 hit “Ol’ Red,” off his self-titled debut album.

“No denying the effect he has had on his step kids!” one TikTok user wrote of Shelton.

Zuma made his Ole Red debut last summer and has played the venue several times since.

“He’s leaning into country music pretty much 150 percent,” Shelton said previously. “He’s a fan of older country music and newer country music, which has been pretty crazy for us to see.”
