New Competition Series Coming To CBS With Blake Shelton, Taylor Sheridan, Keith Urban, And Gretchen Wilson Attached

At last, CBS has introduced the 12 emerging artists that will form the cast of the network’s new competition series, The Road.

In November, CBS unveiled the concept of The Road and the famous figures attached to the series. The network announced that former Voice coach Blake Shelton and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan would serve as executive producers on the show.

PEOPLE reported that The Road will follow, “a headlining superstar on their journey to discover the next big artist.” That headlining superstar was later revealed to be country singer Keith Urban.

Contestants competing on The Road will open for Urban at concerts across the country. They’ll learn the ins and outs of being a touring artist, and see if they have what it takes to live that lifestyle.

I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it’s like to chase a music dream and live life on tour,” Blake Shelton said in a press release about the show. “I’m looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform.

The Road gained additional star power when “Redneck Woman” Gretchen Wilson announced she was serving as the series’ “tour manager.” As the tour manager, Wilson is in charge of ensuring the tour’s overall success while also serving as a mentor to the contestants.

Helping them sharpen their talents to capture the attention of these crowds across America, and guiding them through the real and raw grind of life on the road, has been a highlight of my career,” Wilson said in a post about The Road.

Meet The Cast Of Singers Competing On The Road

After much anticipation, CBS finally revealed the cast of singers competing on The Road. The show introduced the 12 hopeful contestants on Wednesday, June 25, sharing their names, hometowns, and photos.

The contestants are:

  • Adam Sanders – From Lake City, Florida
  • Billie Jo Jones – From Emory, Texas
  • Blaine Bailey – From Tahlequah, Oklahoma
  • Briana Adams – From Winchester, Texas
  • Britnee Kellogg – From Anthem, Arizona
  • Cassidy Daniels – From Marion, North Carolina
  • Channing Wilson – From LaFayette, Georgia
  • Cody Hibbard – From Adair, Oklahoma
  • Forrest McCurren – From Jefferson City, Missouri
  • Jenny Tolman – From Nashville, Tennessee
  • Jon Wood – From Wake Forest, North Carolina
  • Olivia Harms – From Canby, Oregon

The Road can be unforgiving. But these 12 musicians are ready to risk it all,” The Road wrote in their cast announcement. You can see all of the contestants by flipping through the slideshow below.

The Road will premiere on CBS this fall and will also be available to stream on Paramount+. An exact premiere date has yet to be announced.
