Kelly Clarkson counting on Blake Shelton's support post divorce

Country superstar Blake Shelton reunited with longtime friend and fellow coach Kelly Clarkson on The Kelly Clarkson Show on May 16, and fans were treated to a surprising revelation about his next musical goal—one that involves none other than Kelly herself.

Fresh off the release of his 12-track album For Recreational Use Only on May 9, Shelton celebrated a career milestone: his 30th No. 1 single. The album features standout tracks like “Texas,” a tribute to legend George Strait, and collaborations with artists including Craig Morgan, John Anderson, and Gwen Stefani—his wife and musical partner since their The Voice days.

During the lively reunion, Clarkson marveled, “It’s insane that you’ve tallied 30 No. 1 hits. You’re definitely in that legend status.”

She then posed a question that caught Shelton off guard: “Is there anything you really want to do musically that you haven’t done?”

Without hesitation, Shelton revealed his bold aspiration: “You haven’t had me on one of your records.” He acknowledged that Kelly had contributed to his 2012 holiday album Cheers, It’s Christmas—re-released as a deluxe version in 2022—but emphasized, “That’s my goal. I just laid it out there right now. That is the thing. You’re trying to get me to answer the question… I’m saying right now. That’s my musical goal.”

Adding a touch of humor and sincerity, Shelton assured, “I do not lie on TV ever.”

This announcement thrilled fans who have long hoped for a full-fledged musical collaboration between the two powerhouse voices.

Reflecting on his latest album, Shelton expressed pride in the new work: “It’s been four years since we released an album [2021’s Body Language], and I’m excited to get the whole record out there. I’ve always been someone who wants to collect great songs, but sometimes the hardest thing to do is to find something that hasn’t been said or written before or a melody that we haven’t heard. I’m always on the search for that. Looking back, I’m proud because some of those songs don’t sound like anything else—and I think we did it again with this album.”

Blake Shelton’s candid declaration on The Kelly Clarkson Show has set the stage for what could be one of country music’s most exciting collaborations yet. Fans eagerly await to see when—and how—this long-awaited musical duo will officially join forces again.
