Blake Shelton Dropped His Single “Texas” In November, Marking His First Solo Release In Over Two Years.

Last year, after 23 years with Warner Music Nashville, Blake Shelton made a major career move by signing with a new label, BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. Not long after the switch, he announced the release of his new single, “Texas.”

Shelton credits fellow artist Post Malone for inspiring him to kick off this new chapter of his career with a new single. In an interview with PEOPLE, he shared that working on their duet “Pour Me a Drink” motivated him to get back into the studio, especially after the track climbed to No. 1 on the Country Airplay charts.

“Then that kid came along and asked me to sing on his song with him. It took off and was a big hit this summer, and it reminded me like, ‘Hey, get off your a–! This may be your last chance to really take a big swing at this thing.’ So here I am.”

While teasing the track, he and his team promised something different from his usual sound, and he definitely delivered.

The song stands out with a fresh style and even includes a subtle nod to country legend George Strait by referencing his classic hit “All My Ex’s Live In Texas.”

With fans excited to finally get new music from the country superstar, it didn’t take long for “Texas” to make an impact.

In its debut week alone, the song broke a personal record for Shelton. It earned the most first-week radio adds of his career. A reported 156 stations added it to their rotation.

Now, Shelton is celebrating another major milestone, as “Texas” has become his 30th number-one hit of his career.

He celebrated the achievement by posting a statement on social media. In it, he thanked his fans for loving the song and helping it reach the amount of success it has.

“I’m so happy for you!!! You deserve it so much, the song is absolutely incredible,” a fan wrote.

“BIG CONGRATULATIONS BLAKE!!! WE ARE PROUD OF UUUUUU” another exclaimed.

“Congratulations Blake! A well deserved honor,” said a user.

Soon, they’ll get even more new music from Shelton. In March, he announced that he’ll be releasing his first new album in four years. Titled For Recreational Use Only, the project is set to drop this week on Friday, May 9th.

He told executive producer Nick Bilton he’d “never be welcome here.” He accused CBS chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” 60 Minutes. But what Pelley claimed they asked him to do behind the scenes — that part changes everything. Within 24 hours, he was handed a termination letter. Fired “for cause.” 37 years, gone in a single page.
