Breaking the Silence: ‘American Idol’ Top 10 Finalist Addresses Bizarre Rumors About Country Legend Dwight Yoakam

Proving his talents when auditioning on American Idol, John Foster captivated the judges when performing hits like “Goodbye Time” and “Don’t Rock the Jukebox.” For Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan, they quickly saw a star in the making. And during the following weeks, he continued to dominate the competition when singing “Jailhouse Rock.” With each passing week, Foster not only showcased his talents on stage but also expanded his fanbase. And recently, the singer decided to set the record straight after wild rumors circulated on social media.

Had me BAWLING" — American Idol fans react to John Foster singing I Told You So and making it the Top 10

Getting just a taste of what major stars go through on a daily basis, Foster went on Facebook to share a little about himself. While focused on American Idol, the singer noticed the numerous rumors that surrounded him. Wanting fans to get to know the real him, he wrote, “For the sake of all of my family (followers) getting to know me better, I’d like to clear up some misinformation that has been spreading on Facebook.”

John Foster Moves Into The Top 10 On ‘American Idol’

Tackling the top three rumors, Foster insisted, “1. I am 18 years old (not 24). 2. I was born and raised in Louisiana. My hometown is Addis, LA. I’m not from Benton, Kentucky (I’ve never even been to Kentucky, but I hope to visit someday). 3. I’m not related to Dwight Yoakam, nor am I currently signed under any record label (there was some misinformation that Dwight Yoakam signed me under Sugar Hill Records).”

While harmless rumors, the idea of Foster being related to Yoakam would be amazing. But sadly, according to the contestant – it’s all fake. Wanting to connect with his fans as his stradom exploded on American Idol, he added, “I hope this helps y’all to know me better as a person now that y’all know more about my music. If you have any questions about me, try commenting them under this post. Either I or someone who knows me well will likely answer you! God Bless!”

With Foster sitting comfortably in the Top 10, don’t miss his chance to move into the Top 8, with the help of fans voting, on May 4th during “Ladies Night.” American Idol will air at its normal time 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

And last week, on his new boss’s very first day, he stood up in a staff meeting and said what nobody else would. He told executive producer Nick Bilton he’d “never be welcome here.” He accused CBS chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” 60 Minutes. But what Pelley claimed they asked him to do behind the scenes — that part changes everything. Within 24 hours, he was handed a termination letter. Fired “for cause.” 37 years, gone in a single page. Then Saturday morning, he posted a photo on Instagram. No anger. Just him at the helm of a sailboat, hands on the wheel, American flag behind him, looking out at open water. His only words: “You are the wind in my sails. So deeply grateful.”
