On an American Idol night, Jamal Roberts brought the crowd to a standstill with his rendition of Tom Odell’s “Heal.” Without the need for high notes or flashy technique, Jamal chose a quiet, emotional ballad – a bold but meaningful choice.
Before singing, Jamal shared: “This song came to me when I had almost nothing left.” He not only sang, but also told his own story – a man who lost his mother, had no father, and is now a gym teacher and a single father raising two daughters.
