NASCAR fans watching the Coca-Cola 600 coverage on Sunday noticed a quiet interaction on pit road that quickly spread across social media. What happened between Brexton Busch and Kyle Larson’s son, Owen, became one of the most talked-about moments of the day.

The emotional scene unfolded before engines started at Charlotte Motor Speedway, as the NASCAR community gathered to honor Kyle Busch ahead of the May 24 race. But it was a brief moment involving two young boys that left many viewers stunned.

A Difficult Day for the Busch Family

Ahead of Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600, the Busch family gathered on pit road to honor and remember NASCAR driver Kyle Busch. Drivers and teams across the garage also wore Kyle Busch Motorsports gear before the race.

The atmosphere at Charlotte Motor Speedway was emotional as the NASCAR community surrounded the family before the invocation and national anthem.

At one point, Kyle Larson’s son, Owen, nervously walked over toward Brexton Busch shortly before the moment of silence. Photos and video clips of the interaction quickly began circulating online afterward.

As the clips spread online, many NASCAR fans reacted strongly to what they saw between the two boys. One viewer wrote, “Just a beautiful show of kindness and respect.”

Another person commented, “It was so sweet and genuine. He wanted his friend to know he loved him.” A third viewer focused on a small detail captured in the video, writing, “The way Bexton rubbed his back tells you how much that moment ment [sic] to him.”

As screenshots from the moment continued making rounds online, Facebook users also shared emotional reactions to the photos.

More Than a Thousand Words

In one Facebook discussion, viewers said the images alone captured everything they needed to see. “That is a radical picture 🥺That picture says more than a thousand words 🥺,” one person stated.

Another added, “That’s one of the sweetest things I’ve seen all day!” One commenter also pointed to the larger NASCAR community surrounding the Busch family that day, writing, “This is a special moment with Owen and Brexton…Nascar is family….. can’t wait to see them in nascar…..racing….our future.”

Another Facebook thread became filled with emotional comments after additional photos from pit road continued to surface online. “Absolutely heartbreaking…. Two young boys that said nothing but conveyed a whole conversation,” one viewer wrote.

Another person commented, “What a beautiful moment. This is so heart breaking. 😢❤️.”

But the viral moment between Owen Larson and Brexton Busch was only one part of an emotional day at Charlotte Motor Speedway, where fans were already reacting strongly to the Busch family’s appearance during NASCAR’s tribute to the legend.

The Most Emotional Moments From NASCAR’s Kyle Busch Tribute

During the pre-race tribute on May 24, 2026, NASCAR honored Kyle as his family stood together on the grid at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Samantha appeared emotional throughout the ceremony, while Brexton kept his head lowered during several moments of silence.

According to USA Today, Kyle had originally been scheduled to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 before his sudden death shocked the NASCAR world just days earlier.

Instead of watching him race, Samantha, Brexton, daughter Lennix, Kyle’s parents Tom and Gaye, and his brother Kurt Busch with his girlfriend, Lyda Moore, walked onto the infield alongside NASCAR officials to honor his memory.

During the tribute, NASCAR president Steve O’Donnell reflected on Kyle’s legacy both on and off the track.

“Every racetrack was Kyle Busch’s home,” he told the crowd, before praising the late driver not only as a champion, but also as a husband, father, and teammate who quietly helped others behind the scenes.

He later spoke directly to the family, telling Samantha that NASCAR would always stand beside her and her children.

“Samantha, I want you to know that this sport stands with you, and you and your children are NASCAR family forever. Brexton and Lennix, your dad loves you with all his heart. Everyone gathered here, everyone behind you, everyone watching on TV and all those people up in that grandstand, they are your family and we’ve got you.”

The emotional tribute ended with one final statement that left many fans visibly shaken. “Kyle Busch is NASCAR,” O’Donnell said. “He was one of a kind, and there will never be another.”

Kurt Busch’s Tribute and Brexton’s Reactions Leave NASCAR Fans Emotional

Photos from the tribute also captured several emotional moments from the ceremony. One striking image showed Kylye’s brother, Kurt Busch, kneeling beside white roses placed on the No. 8 logo painted on the track.

The photo quickly became one of the defining moments of the event. With the packed grandstands blurred in the background, Kurt’s quiet reflection highlighted the family’s grief.

Another photo captured the scale of the tribute, with NASCAR figures, Busch family members, and racing legends gathered behind the speakers on the grid. Samantha Busch and Brexton stood near the center, surrounded by supporters.

For many viewers, those images became the lasting memory of the day. While the ceremony honored Kyle’s legacy in NASCAR, it was the quiet reactions from his widow and son that resonated most deeply with fans online.

A video reposted by Yahoo Sports on Facebook captured the emotional tribute as fans and NASCAR officials honored Kyle before the race.

One user commented, “That boy is locked in. Brexton will forever be on demon time mark my words. All i see in him is how much his dad taught him and that something was probably said to him before his passing that he will never forget. 💯❤️

Another wrote, “He lost his hero at a very young age never getting the opportunity to race right beside his father.”

A third viewer added, “I started crying when I saw his wife holding her kids tight as they played the bagpipes, looked like Brexton was being strong for his mom and sister, he looks just like Kyle 😥😥.”

Another commenter shared, “The strength that Kyle Busch’s family showed by being there at today’s race was unbelievable. Only God can give that strength.”

One more viewer focused on Brexton’s future in racing, writing, “I can see it all over his son’s face he ready to take over NASCAR! Make Daddy proud Busch Junior!”

Some viewers also questioned the family’s positioning during the ceremony. One person asked, “Why did she not stand with the rest of his family?” Another wrote, “I want to know if there’s something going on with her and the rest of Kyle’s family cuz I never saw them close.”

The Country Music Nation Facebook page shared another angle of the ceremony, which sparked a new wave of emotional comments online.

One commenter wrote, “Mom is hurting and Brexton is probably still processing what is going on . Prayers for them .” Another added, “It was difficult to watch.” A third said, “It was so hard to watch her. I was in tears.”

“Why did Kyle’s brother and parents seem so distant to the wife and kids?” someone else wondered, while another chimed in, “that’s [sic] what I was thinking. It was awkward. I asked my husband if they didn’t get along. Because how do you not console your grandkids during a time like this.”

As fans continued mourning Kyle during the emotional tribute, reports also revealed the medical condition that led to the NASCAR star’s sudden death, along with the alarming symptoms he reportedly experienced beforehand.

Kyle Busch Reportedly Coughed Up Blood Before Collapsing

According to CBS News, Kyle died from complications related to a serious lung infection, his family confirmed in a statement released on May 23.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused by the body’s extreme response to an infection, which can damage tissues and organs.

In audio obtained from a 911 call, an unidentified caller told dispatchers, “I’ve got an individual that’s shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out, and he’s producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood.”

The caller added that Busch was lying on the bathroom floor but was still conscious while emergency responders were being sent to the scene.

“HE WROTE IT AT 4AM. IT CAME TO HIM LIKE A GIFT. 25 YEARS LATER, HE SANG IT ONE MORE TIME BEFORE SAYING GOODBYE FOREVER.” Alan Jackson just appeared on the National Memorial Day Concert on PBS this Sunday — singing “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” from the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The same song he wrote at 4am, weeks after watching the second plane hit. The same song he almost never released because he didn’t want anyone to think he was capitalizing on tragedy. That was 2001. This is 2026. And Alan Jackson is still standing — despite Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease slowly stealing his balance and mobility. What most people don’t realize is this was only his SECOND time performing the song for this concert. The first was in 2021. And this time, it hit differently. Because on June 27, just one month from now, Alan Jackson will walk off a stage for the very last time at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium. Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert — they’ll all be there. Not to perform with him. To say goodbye. He once said the song was a gift. He never took credit for writing it. But what nobody expected was how the final note would land this time… with a man who knows this chapter is almost over

HE LOST HIS WIFE AND TWO SONS IN UNTHINKABLE TRAGEDIES — BUT WHEN HE STEPPED ONSTAGE THAT NIGHT TO SING “BLUE BAYOU,” HIS BROKEN HEART STILL SOUNDED LIKE HEAVEN. To the world, he was the mysterious pioneer of rock and roll. With massive hits like “Oh, Pretty Woman,” “Crying,” and “Only the Lonely,” Roy Orbison had a voice that shaped a generation. But behind those signature dark glasses was a man who had survived the kind of grief that ruins people. He lost his wife in a sudden crash, and two years later, a devastating fire took two of his little boys. Life took almost everything. Yet, he refused to let the darkness silence his melody. At the legendary “Black and White Night,” something unforgettable happened. The stage was packed with giants. Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, and Elvis Costello stood behind him—not as fellow rock stars, but as fans in pure awe. When he began to sing “Blue Bayou,” the room shifted. He stood perfectly still. No wild gestures. But that soaring, operatic voice filled the room with a beauty so profound it made people hold their breath. He wasn’t just performing. He was a man who had seen the absolute bottom of human sorrow, yet still chose to sing about peace. He left us just over a year later. But every time that final note echoes, we are reminded that sometimes, the most shattered hearts make the most immortal music.

Monday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Billy Idol closed the 52nd American Music Awards with something no one expected — his FIRST ever AMAs performance. At 70, rocking a purple shirt and black leather blazer, he stepped on stage with longtime guitarist Steve Stevens and delivered a medley of “Eyes Without a Face” and “Dancing With Myself” that had the entire arena on their feet. But what hit harder than the music was his speech. Presented the Lifetime Achievement Award by Leon Thomas, Idol got quiet for a moment. Then he said: “When I started in punk rock in 1976, we thought it may only last six months.” He paused. “I’ve been able to live my dream. It’s really because of all of you.” Only Diana Ross and Rod Stewart received this honor before him. And in November — the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is waiting.
