Kyle Busch’s son has shared a deeply emotional tribute following the sudden death of the NASCAR star, who passed away at 41 after being hospitalized with a severe illness.
Busch died on Thursday, just days after celebrating a victory at the Ecosave 200, leaving the motorsport world and his family in shock.
In a quiet but powerful gesture, his 11-year-old son Brexton honored his father by updating his Instagram profile picture to a touching image of the two embracing after a race win. In the photo, Busch is seen in full racing gear holding his son tightly while clutching a checkered flag, capturing a moment that fans now view as especially meaningful.

The image dates back to a celebration at Echo Park Speedway in February, when Busch won a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event and shared the moment with his family in the paddock.
Brexton, already a rising young racer with several wins to his name, including the Golden Driller, has been steadily following in his father’s footsteps. He has openly expressed his ambition to become a NASCAR champion like Busch.
In a pinned Instagram post, the young driver once wrote: “I’m chasing my dream of being just like my dad, a multi-time NASCAR Cup Series champion!”
His parents had proudly supported his journey, once posting after a Millbridge Speedway victory in October 2023: “We love to watch you accomplish your dreams!”
Just days before Busch’s passing, Brexton had also celebrated his birthday, sharing a family photo featuring himself, his parents Kyle and Samantha, and his younger sister Lennix. That image has since been flooded with messages of sympathy and support from fans around the world.

“Brexton, your dad’s impact on the world was massive, but nothing made him shine brighter than watching you race and grow,” one fan wrote. “He will always be riding shotgun with you. Stay strong, buddy.”
Others encouraged him to keep going in his father’s honor, with messages such as: “Show the world who’s boss. Do it for dad!”

Another supporter added: “Praying for you buddy. You’re gonna be a legend one day and Daddy will see every moment of that. Rest in peace.”
The emotional birthday post Busch shared for his son earlier this month has now taken on even greater significance. “Happy Birthday Brexton!!! Your mom & I are so proud of who you’re turning out to be!” he wrote. “You’re the best kid on & off the track… there is no limit to what you’ll accomplish! Love you buddy!”
Following Busch’s death, his team Richard Childress Racing also issued a heartfelt decision to honor both father and son by retiring the No. 8 car.

The team announced that the No. 8, closely associated with Busch’s legacy and even designed with his involvement, would be suspended indefinitely. Instead, they will run No. 33 at upcoming races, including at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
RCR stated that the number will be preserved for Brexton, who is expected to carry his father’s legacy into the future. “The No. 8 is reserved and ready for Brexton Busch when he is ready to go NASCAR racing,” the team said.
Busch is survived by his wife Samantha Sarcinella, his son Brexton, and his daughter Lennix. In the wake of his passing, fans have also contributed heavily to The Bundle of Joy Fund, a charity co-founded by Busch and his wife to support families facing infertility.
While his official cause of death has not yet been publicly detailed beyond the family’s statement, earlier reports revealed that he had been coughing up blood and experiencing severe symptoms before being rushed to hospital, according to a 911 call.
