Fans are saying it feels more real this way, like she’s sitting right next to you telling a story through the song. “This is what a *real* singer sounds like. No auto-tune, no production, just soul,” one comment reads

Many listeners are struck by how controlled yet vulnerable her voice sounds. Even without instrumentation, every note lands with intention. “The silence around her voice actually makes it hit harder. I didn’t expect to feel this much,” a fan shared, echoing how the stripped-back style amplifies the message.

Others are focusing on the meaning behind the performance rather than just the vocals. The message comes through clearly, almost more than in a fully produced version. “You can actually *hear* what she’s trying to say. It’s not just singing, it’s storytelling,” another viewer commented.

There’s also a wave of admiration for her confidence — performing without backing music leaves nowhere to hide. “This takes courage. One mistake and it’s obvious, but she didn’t miss a thing,” someone wrote, while others praised her ability to hold attention with nothing but her presence.

Singer, songwriter, and star of the West End, Sydnie Christmas has shared her new single ‘Run’ through Westway Music. The song is written by Christmas alongside Gabrielle Aplin and Ash Howes (who also produced the track). It marks her first release as a songwriter. Listen to it below.

“I’m very proud to be releasing my first co-written song, Run. Writing is such a hard process and it’s very hard not to think about trying to write a hit, when there’s no easy recipe for that,” says Christmas. “Actually, what you need to do is just write from the heart and be honest and that’s what I’ve been doing writing for my new album. I’ve been writing songs since I was 11 and writing this album is a journey I’ve longed to be on since then. It’s become clear to me that you need to write the songs YOU want to write, telling the stories YOU want to tell.”
