Taking the stage during the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame–themed night of American Idol, fan favorite Hannah Harper delivered one of the most emotional moments of the evening with a stunning performance of Fleetwood Mac’s classic “Landslide.”

Accompanying herself on guitar, Harper stripped the song down to its most intimate form, letting her soft, heartfelt vocals carry the weight of the lyrics. By the final note, judge Carrie Underwood was visibly moved, nearly in tears as she reacted to what she had just witnessed.
“Absolutely gorgeous,” Underwood said. “Perfect song for you to choose. It sounded like you. Beautiful.”
Luke Bryan also praised the performance, calling it “really special” and admitting it made him briefly step out of his role as a judge.
“I forgot I was judging on American Idol,” Bryan said in shock.

Lionel Richie kept his response simple but powerful, summing up the moment by saying, “A classic song with a classic performance.”
The performance came as the competition narrowed following Jesse Findling’s elimination the previous week, leaving just 11 contestants to take the stage as America voted for the Top 9.
Hannah Harper has been one of the standout stories of Season 24. A stay-at-home mom from Missouri, she first went viral during her audition when she performed her original song “String Cheese,” inspired by her experience with postpartum depression after the birth of her youngest child.

That audition has since surpassed 750,000 views, introducing audiences to her deeply personal songwriting and emotional honesty.
Raised in a conservative household in Missouri, Harper grew up singing bluegrass gospel music in church from the age of nine and later performed with her family band, the Harper Family. Her early influences included artists like Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, and Jo Dee Messina, shaping her blend of country storytelling and heartfelt delivery.

Married to her husband Devon Mendenhall since 2018, Harper is a mother of three boys and often credits her family as her biggest source of strength and inspiration throughout her journey.
Now advancing deeper into the competition with only 30 contestants left in the broader season journey, Harper continues to build momentum as one of the most emotionally compelling voices on American Idol, with performances that consistently leave both judges and viewers deeply moved.
