Olympic, world and European champions Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron had not left a single event empty-handed in the 2025-26 season, and the 2026 ISU Figure Skating Awards were no exception.

Held on Sunday (29 March) in Prague, Czechia, the annual event wrapped up the Olympic figure skating season the day after the last competition at the 2026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships.

The most coveted award, for “Skater(s) of the Year” went to Saturday night’s victors, France’s ice dancersFournier Beaudry and Cizeron, whose debut season together set numerous historical milestones and culminated in gold at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 and a world title.

“We’re really proud of ourselves and what we’ve achieved this season,” Cizeron said from the stage. “It’s been a great lesson for us to believe that we can achieve more and that we can choose our own journey.”

“It’s really unexpected – as much as the [unexpectedness] of us skating together but life brought us together and we took the risk,” Fournier Beaudry added. “It was a beautiful risk and we enjoyed training together every day. I think without the team that we had behind us for the entire season we would not be there and we would not have achieved the results that we did this season. we’re all stronger as a team.”

Japan’s 17-year-old Nakai Ami, who won an Olympic bronze medal in the same season when she made her senior debut, was named “Best Newcomer” of the season.

“This season was my first one in the senior rank. I went to the world championships and the Olympics and was able to medal at the Olympics so I’m very, very proud of myself for that,” Nakai said via an interpreter. “And next season I’ll be challenging myself even more and I would like to end it with a smile on my face like I did this season.”

And last week, on his new boss’s very first day, he stood up in a staff meeting and said what nobody else would. He told executive producer Nick Bilton he’d “never be welcome here.” He accused CBS chief Bari Weiss of “murdering” 60 Minutes. But what Pelley claimed they asked him to do behind the scenes — that part changes everything. Within 24 hours, he was handed a termination letter. Fired “for cause.” 37 years, gone in a single page. Then Saturday morning, he posted a photo on Instagram. No anger. Just him at the helm of a sailboat, hands on the wheel, American flag behind him, looking out at open water. His only words: “You are the wind in my sails. So deeply grateful.”
