27-year-old Filipino singer Matty Juniosa finally breaks his silence after earning Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer with a breathtaking performance of Purple Rain that stunned the entire room. What began as a powerful audition quickly turned into a life-changing moment that left judges emotional and the audience on their feet. Now, his heartfelt reaction is going viral, as fans relive the performance that could define his entire career.

Another Filipino talent is making waves on the international stage.

The Filipino singer said he joined the UK singing competition to prove to himself that he is more than just a “singing competition loser.” He previously competed in “Idol Philippines” in 2019.

“I have been waiting for this chance to finally put an end to this long thing that I’ve been thinking about myself, that I will always be a singing competition loser,” he said.

For his audition, he performed a rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” where he impressed the judges and the audience with the caliber of his voice, earning a standing ovation.

“This, I think, is the biggest reaction we had from anyone,” judge Simon Cowell said, followed by him pressing the Golden Buzzer.

The Golden Buzzer means the contestant advances to the live shows and no longer has to go through any audition rounds.

On Facebook, Simon shared Matty’s performance and expressed his admiration.

“I could have given him two Golden Buzzers,” he wrote. “Hope you all love the audition as well.”

“This is genuinely such an exciting [time] for me as I grew up watching the show,” he said.

Judges reactions

Simon Cowell was clearly amazed by the performance, saying: “Wow. Wow. Wow. Matty, your range is insane. Oh my goodness. What a treat. It’s like when you discover a new food or a new restaurant, you’re like, I need to go back. I need more. Whatever you’re about, I just need more of it.” He later added: “You’re the kind of artist where I would say you want to put like eight spoonfuls of sugar in your tea. You put about 10,000 in this, I think, is the biggest reaction we’ve had from anyone.”

Another judge praised the performance, saying: “You were amazing. It was an amazing version. I thought that was a fantastic performance, but I can see how much you want it and I can see that passion in you. So, well done cuz it was an amazing audition and I just love you.”

A third judge highlighted Matty’s stage presence, stating: “First of all, your personality is outstanding. On top of that, as soon as you took that mic off that stand, you became a superstar. You absolutely crushed it. You look great, man.”

The judges’ strong reactions, combined with the audience’s excitement, built up to a memorable moment as Matty received the Golden Buzzer, marking a standout audition of the season.
