A comedy impression can sometimes disappear as quickly as it appears. But occasionally, it lands so well that even the person being portrayed can’t help but react.
That moment unfolded again on Saturday Night Live this weekend when cast member Marcello Hernandez revived his now-familiar impression of stand-up comedian Sebastian Maniscalco.
During the latest episode of the long-running NBC sketch show, Hernandez stepped into the role once more during a comedy segment with the night’s host, Harry Styles. The sketch leaned heavily into Maniscalco’s unmistakable performance style — animated storytelling, expressive gestures, and the comedic rhythm that has made him one of the most recognizable voices in stand-up today.

For many viewers, the portrayal felt instantly recognizable. Clips from the sketch quickly began circulating online, with audiences sharing their reactions and debating just how close the impression came to the real thing.
Not long after the episode aired, Maniscalco himself decided to respond.
Taking to social media, the comedian reacted with humor rather than surprise. In a lighthearted message, he joked about his unusual connection to the iconic comedy show.

According to Maniscalco, he has technically appeared on SNL twice now — a claim that might sound impressive at first glance. But he quickly added the punchline: neither appearance actually involved him hosting the show.
The comedian continued the joke by pointing out that both Styles and Hernandez may have spent more rehearsal time portraying him than he has spent being on the show himself.
Despite the playful tone, Maniscalco didn’t hold back when it came to praising the performance. He said both Hernandez and Styles were “hilarious” in the sketch and that they had “absolutely nailed it.”
For a performer known for his distinctive stage persona, the compliment carried weight. Many fans interpreted the comment as a sign that Hernandez’s impression had captured something surprisingly accurate about Maniscalco’s style.
But the part of his message that truly caught people’s attention came at the very end.

In the same joking spirit, Maniscalco suggested that maybe the next time around, he should simply come onto the show and do the role himself.
The remark was brief, but it quickly sparked curiosity among fans of the show and followers of the comedian. Could it be nothing more than a playful comment? Or might it hint at the possibility of Maniscalco appearing on the SNL stage in the future?
Hernandez first introduced the Maniscalco impression months earlier during a November episode hosted by Glen Powell, and it has since become one of the more talked-about character bits in recent episodes.
Whether the real Maniscalco ever steps onto the show remains to be seen.
But if there’s one thing comedy fans know, it’s that the most memorable moments often come when reality and parody unexpectedly collide. And for now, viewers seem more than happy to imagine what might happen if that moment ever arrives.
