“EVERYTHING I AM COMES FROM A MOTHER’S WILD, BREAKING HEART” — JESSIE BUCKLEY’S TEARFUL GAELIC OSCAR SPEECH LEAVES HOLLYWOOD SHAKEN

A Tearful Jessie Buckley Says Thank You in Gaelic, Dedicates Her Best Actress Oscar to the “Beautiful Chaos of a Mother’s Heart”

Jessie Buckley took a beat to laugh at the absurdity of it all when she won the award for Best Actress for her heartbreaking performance in Hamnet at the 2026 Oscars on Sunday night.

Buckely was awarded her statue by last year’s Best Actress winner, Mikey Madison of Anora.

“Wow. Thank you so much,” the Irish actor said. Then she turned away from the mic to laugh incredulously. “This is really something. Thank you to the incredible women that I stand beside, I’m inspired by your art, and your heart, and I want to work with every single one of you.”

Buckley went to thank “my Irish family, they’re all here, Ireland bought that them flights!”

Buckley also thanked her husband and recently born baby, and, of course, Hamnet writer/director Chloe Zhao, and the chance to play a character where she got to “understand the capacity of a mother’s love.” But the heart of Buckley’s speech came at the end, when she shouted out mothers everywhere.

“It’s Mothers Day in the UK today,” Buckley said. “I would like to dedicate this to the beautiful chaos of a mother’s heart. We all come from a lineage of women, who continue to create against all odds. Thank you for recognizing me in this role, this is the greatest honor, I can’t even believe it.”

Buckley concluded her speech by thanking the audience in Gaelic. “Go raibh míle maith agat,” means “Thank you so much,” in Irish Gaelic.

This is Buckley’s first Oscar win, but her second nomination, following a nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2021’s The Lost Daughter.

Hamnet was directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao (Nomadland), who co-wrote the script with Maggie O’Farrell. The script was adapted from O’Farrell’s 2020 novel of the same name. Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal star as Agnes and William Shakespeare, who struggle to go on after the death of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet (played by Jacobi Jupe). Eventually, Shakespeare transformed his pain into his most celebrated work of all time, Hamlet.

Despite Shakespeare’s fame, Hamnet gives his wife the spotlight, and Buckley more than rose to the occasion. She delivered a devastating performance as a grieving mother. If you don’t think you can cry just from watching someone watch something, think again.

AFTER 7 YEARS OF SILENCE, BARBRA STREISAND IS RETURNING TO THE OSCARS — AND THE REASON WILL MOVE YOU. Barbra Streisand hasn’t appeared at the Oscars in seven years. No stage. No spotlight. Nothing. But tomorrow night, she’s walking back into that room — not for an award, not for a performance. For Robert Redford. Their friendship stretches back decades. From The Way We Were to quiet years of phone calls and shared memories most of us will never know about. The kind of bond Hollywood rarely keeps. And now, in front of millions, she’ll stand up and honor the man who meant more to her than any script ever could. Something tells me this won’t just be a tribute. It’ll be the moment the entire room holds its breath — wondering what Barbra might say that she’s kept inside for all these years…

Last night in Austin, Shooter Jennings stepped under a single amber light. No pyrotechnics. No outlaw bravado. Just the only son of Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter carrying his father’s guitar. Then he played a Waylon classic — and didn’t change a single note. Waylon Jennings recorded over 60 albums. Sold 40 million records. Redefined country music as an outlaw art form. But he never got to see his son carry that same rebellion into a new century. “I didn’t grow up trying to be my father. I grew up trying to understand him.” Shooter released his first country record in 2005 — eight years after Waylon’s passing. What he whispered into the mic before the final chord echoed something Waylon once told him backstage as a boy…

When Blake Shelton Sang About Home, Even the Strongest Voice in the Room Could Not Hide the Heart Behind It

When Blake Shelton Sang About Home, Even the Strongest Voice in the Room Could Not Hide the Heart Behind It Introduction When Blake Shelton Sang About Home, Even the Strongest Voice in the Room Could Not Hide the Heart Behind It There are certain songs in country music that do more than entertain. They open a door. They take an artist back to a place before fame, before arenas, before television lights and career milestones. They return him to the land that shaped his first dreams and taught him who he was long before the world learned his name. For Blake Shelton, songs about Oklahoma have always carried that deeper pull. They are not simply part of the setlist. They are part of his bones. And that is why, on certain nights, when those lyrics begin to circle back toward home, the emotion in his voice feels different from the very first line. When Blake Shelton Sang of Oklahoma — And the Strength in His Voice Suddenly Began to Tremble That title captures the quiet power of a moment many country fans instantly recognize. Blake Shelton has always sung with a voice built for confidence — warm, grounded, relaxed, and unmistakably rooted in the country tradition. But when he sings about Oklahoma, something softer begins to appear beneath that strength. The sound is still full. The phrasing is still steady. Yet suddenly there is another layer inside it, something harder to define and impossible to miss. It is memory. It is longing. It is gratitude for where life began, mixed with the ache of knowing that no matter how far a man travels, part of him never truly leaves home….
