Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, the pair who won gold in figure skating at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics, appeared on TBS’s THE TIME, where they shared lighthearted insights about their close partnership and daily life while training together in Toronto.

The TBS morning news program THE TIME aired on February 19 and featured a live interview with Japan’s figure skating pair, Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara, who recently captured the gold medal at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in the pairs event. Here’s a translation of their comments.

Broadcasting live from a special studio in Milan, the pair discussed their teamwork and daily routines. The two reflected on their gold-medal win. Speaking two days after their historic achievement, Miura shared, “I’ve been receiving so many messages, and it’s finally starting to feel real little by little.”

Kihara added with a smile, “I was finally able to sleep last night, and that’s when it hit me— – realized that we actually won gold.”

The show’s host, Shinichiro Azumi, asked, “I’ve heard you’ve been living together in Toronto while training. Do you ever argue with one another?”

Miura smiled and replied, “We rarely have any disagreements about skating, but we do often have little arguments in our daily lives.” Laughing, she added, “It’s like sibling quarrels.”

Azumi continued with another question: “How long have you been living together?” Kihara, tilting his head as if thinking, answered, “Hmm, I’m not quite sure.” Miura casually responded, “We’re always together, so it just feels like the norm now.”

Azumi pressed further, asking, “Do you wake up at the same time?” Kihara replied, “Since our practice times are the same, our wake-up times are also pretty similar.”
