Reba McEntire\u2019s itching to play Reba Nell Hart (n\u00e9e McKinney) again.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with\u00a0The Bobby Bones Show<\/em>\u00a0on Friday, McEntire revealed she\u2019s been hard at work trying to put together a reboot of her Emmy-nominated sitcom\u00a0Reba<\/em>, which ran for six seasons on The WB and The CW from 2001 to 2007.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve really been trying hard to do a reboot of the\u00a0Reba<\/em>\u00a0show,\u201d the 67-year-old country icon told the iHeartRadio host. \u201cI really want to work with the people that I got to work with during that six and a half years.\u201d<\/p>\n

McEntire then spoke of the series\u2019 cast, which also included Christopher Rich as Reba\u2019s ex-husband Brock Enroll Hart and\u00a0Melissa Peterman\u00a0as his new girlfriend-turned-wife Barbra Jean Hart (n\u00e9e Booker). \u201cIt was fun, the cast the crew everybody we got to work with and play with, they were wonderful people,\u201d she said. \u201cWe wanted to get back together like a reunion and have fun, so hopefully that will happen one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

She\u2019s not the only\u00a0Reba<\/em>\u00a0cast member calling for the show to be resurrected. In February, actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher \u2014 who played Reba\u2019s oldest daughter Cheyenne Montgomery (n\u00e9e Hart) \u2014 spoke about working with McEntire and the idea of rebooting the beloved series in an interview on\u00a0The Art of Kindness<\/em>\u00a0podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s so powerful because she walks the walk. I get so excited when people ask me how she is. I\u2019ll happily go on glowingly about this woman. She\u2019s so strong even in uncertain moments, and she\u2019s super grateful and gracious and kind,\u201d Swisher, 42, told the outlet. \u201cI really wouldn\u2019t take her in a dogfight. Don\u2019t underestimate her. She\u2019s so strong. But I think she would win that dogfight not by beating the crap out of you. She would [with], you know, love. She\u2019s just a really special human.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the topic of bringing back\u00a0Reba<\/em>, Swisher said at the time, \u201cAre you kidding me? We\u2019d love to do [a reboot]!\u201d<\/p>\n

Before a rebooted\u00a0Reba<\/em>\u00a0is officially greenlit into production, McEntire and Peterman, 50, are set to star alongside each other in a\u00a0new Lifetime movie,\u00a0The Hammer<\/em>. Rather than playing frenemies, however, the pair will portray sisters who find themselves entangled in a death investigation.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the true story of Judge Kim Wheeler,\u00a0The Hammer<\/em>\u00a0follows \u201cfirecracker lawyer\u201d Kim Wheeler (McEntire) as she is appointed judge of the 5th District of Nevada after the reigning judge dies under suspicious circumstances, according to a press release from Lifetime. As one of the few traveling judges in America, Kim covers the circuit between Las Vegas and Reno and lays down the law in her cases, which earns her the nickname \u201cThe Hammer.\u201d<\/p>\n

But things change when Kim\u2019s sister Kris (Peterman), who runs a local brothel, is named a prime suspect in the former judge\u2019s death. Now, \u201cKim must work even harder to make certain the appropriate justice is served,\u201d reads a logline from the press release.<\/p>\n

In addition to McEntire and Peterman, the movie stars\u00a0Rex Linn, McEntire\u2019s real-life boyfriend. He\u2019s set to play \u201ca mysterious cowboy with unknown motives,\u201d per the release. Kay Shioma Metchie will also appear in the film as Vicky, a \u201ctough-talking\u201d bailiff who also happens to be Wheeler\u2019s friend.<\/p>\n

The Hammer<\/em>\u00a0marks the second time McEntire has collaborated with Lifetime. Last year, she starred in and executive produced the holiday film,\u00a0Reba McEntire\u2019s Christmas in Tune<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The film also marks the fourth project that McEntire and Peterman have worked on together.
