Feels like I lost a piece of my childhood.<\/p>\n

Actor James Van Der Beek, who was best known for his role in\u00a0Dawson\u2019s Creek\u00a0<\/em>and the movie\u00a0Varsity Blues,\u00a0<\/em>has passed away at the age of 48 after a battle with colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n

He first revealed the diagnosis back in November 2024, but said at the time that he was remaining optimistic:<\/p>\n

\u201cI have colorectal cancer. I\u2019ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family. There\u2019s reason for optimism, and I\u2019m feeling good.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

His passing was announced this afternoon by his wife Kimberly:<\/p>\n

\u201cOur beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
