Actresses\u00a0Sarah Jessica Parker\u00a0and\u00a0Helen Mirren\u00a0took home the first\u00a0Golden Globes\u00a0honors of the year in a primetime special that aired Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Parker received the 2026 Carol Burnett Award and Mirren was honored with the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award during the star-studded Golden Eve celebration, the precursor to Sunday night\u2019s\u00a0Golden Globes\u00a0ceremony.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cIt has been a privilege and a dream to call myself an actor,\u201d Parker said in her acceptance\u00a0speech.<\/p>\n

Mirren said in\u00a0her remarks\u00a0that she viewed her award as a recognition of a \u201clife lived.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cThe DeMille Award was described to me as a career recognition, but I prefer to think of it as a life lived, a life survived, a life enjoyed, a life sweated, and a life carried on, hopefully,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd given that hope, I prefer to think of this as an ongoing reflection of my career rather than a eulogy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mirren was presented the Cecil B. DeMille Award by her \u201c1923\u201d co-star Harrison Ford, who reflected on the first time he met Mirren on the set of 1986\u2019s \u201cThe Mosquito Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had three lovely children,\u201d Ford said of the pair\u2019s characters in the film. \u201cThe script required all of us refer to Helen as \u2018Mother.\u2019 Forty years later, I got to work with her again when Taylor Sheridan cast her in \u20181923.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Ford joked, \u201cI was an afterthought.\u201d<\/p>\n

When it came time to honor Parker, actor Colman Domingo kicked things off with a toast to the actress, which included a cosmopolitan, a nod to Parker\u2019s iconic \u201cSex and the City\u201d character, Carrie Bradshaw.<\/p>\n

Domingo lauded Parker for her love, thoughtfulness, intelligence and style.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is truly iconic is her heart,\u201d he said. \u201cLike the great Carol Burnett, she gives us permission to ask big questions about love, work, friendship and time. And she does it all with humor, elegance, nerve and grace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parker\u2019s \u201cSex and the City\u201d co-star Kristen Davis then paid tribute in a moving speech, saying she was \u201cin awe\u201d of the actress\u2019s talent.<\/p>\n

She added, \u201c\u2018Sex and the City\u2019 has a lot of great themes, but my favorite theme is honoring the importance of friendship, of lifelong chosen family. And that\u2019s what you are to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis went on, \u201cMy dearest Sarah, it is a joy to be with you in this life, and to be here tonight to honor you in the name of the incredible Carol Burnett is just a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parker\u2019s husband Matthew Broderick and son James Wilkie Broderick were also in attendance to show their support, as were Parker\u2019s other \u201cSex and the City\u201d co-stars, Evan Handler and David Eigenberg.<\/p>\n

The event also featured appearances by Burnett, Tessa Thompson, Vin Diesel and Viola Davis.<\/p>\n
