Alan Jackson R<\/b>eportedly<\/i><\/b>\u00a0Walked Out Of The CMA Awards During Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Surprise Performance<\/b><\/h2>\n

Grammy-award-winning popstar Beyonc\u00e9 made waves in the country music industry when she released her first-ever country album last year. The unexpected venture was inspired by her\u00a0performance at the 2016 CMA Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That year, Beyonc\u00e9 surprised the CMA audience when she took the stage alongside The Chicks (formerly the Dixie Chicks) for a rendition of her song \u201cDaddy Lessons.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to the ceremony, country superstar\u00a0Alan Jackson\u00a0was\u00a0asked<\/a>\u00a0what he wanted to see from the show that year. Jackson was hopeful to see some \u201creal country music\u201d showcased, and added:<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I understand the dang television station\u00a0trying to get the ratings<\/strong>\u00a0with whatever they think is gonna prop it up, with some big event with some other type of artist on there. Yeah, hopefully it\u2019ll be a\u00a0good country music show for a change<\/strong>.<\/em>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

However, that hope went out the window when Beyonc\u00e9 made her surprise appearance. A Nashville music manager in attendance\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that this move inspired Alan Jackson to make a bold statement. He recalled:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was sitting behind Alan Jackson, and he actually\u00a0stood up from the front row and walked out in middle of the performance<\/strong>, so I think that spoke volumes for the traditional, real country acts.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

For a show positioned as \u201ccountry\u2019s biggest night\u201d and designed to celebrate the best and brightest in the genre, the decision to focus on one of the nation\u2019s biggest pop stars left many confused and disappointed.\u00a0Travis Tritt\u00a0expressed his dissatisfaction on\u00a0Twitter, stating that \u201ccountry doesn\u2019t need\u00a0pop acts for ratings<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n
