The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em>\u00a0host set the record straight during an appearance on\u00a0Watch What Happens Live<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire may no longer be family, but it looks like their relationship is still good as gold.<\/p>\n

While in New York City to promote her album Chemistry in June, the singer stopped by Watch What Happens Live to discuss all things career and life. As Kelly and host Andy Cohen chatted about her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, he brought up how her former stepmother-in-law is incoming The Voice coach Reba McEntire (who was married to Brandon\u2019s father Narvel Blackstock).<\/p>\n

Given how Reba and Kelly had a long-standing friendship before they both got divorced, Andy asked whether they kept in touch after their respective breakups.\u201dI mean we were friends before Brandon, we got together, so, yeah,\u201d she said in the June 27 taping. \u201cWe were talking before she signed up to do The Voice, we were texting each other about that. We text each other all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

But that wasn\u2019t all\u00a0The Kelly Clarkson Show<\/em>\u00a0personality had to say about Reba. When continuing to describe their years-long bond, Kelly reflected on how the two both went on similar life paths within a few years of one another.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re both, you know, women of sound mind that know that life doesn\u2019t work out sometimes,\u201d she continued on the Bravo show. \u201cI mean \u2026 well, she would know best! It\u2019s like literally the same thing. So, no hard feelings there. Just feelings!\u201d<\/p>\n

As fans may know, both Kelly and Reba first met when\u00a0they performed together\u00a0on the season 1 finale of\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0in 2002.\u00a0At the time, Reba was married to Kelly\u2019s ex-husband\u2019s father Narvel, who she wed in 1989. A decade after their initial duet, Kelly would marry Brandon and have two children with him:\u00a0River Rose<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Remington Alexander<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Reba\u00a0announced her divorce\u00a0from Narvel, with whom she had a son named\u00a0Shelby<\/strong>. Kelly, on the other hand, would\u00a0split from Brandon\u00a0in June 2020. Since then, Reba has gone on to date actor\u00a0Rex Linn<\/strong>, while Kelly hasn\u2019t explicitly mentioned a significant other in her personal life.<\/p>\n
