A Quirky Keepsake from the Ranch<\/strong>
\nBlake Shelton has always been known for his humor and generosity, but his latest story with longtime friend Carson Daly proves he also has a knack for giving truly one-of-a-kind gifts. During a visit to Shelton\u2019s Oklahoma ranch, Daly\u2019s middle daughter, London, became enamored with an unusual piece of d\u00e9cor \u2014 a taxidermied raccoon that had been sitting in Shelton\u2019s home for decades.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe just fell in love with this thing,\u201d Shelton recalled during a November 2023 appearance on\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em>. \u201cIt\u2019s like, what is wrong with your kid? She was holding it, petting it\u2026 By the time they were gonna leave, I was like, \u2018She\u2019s gotta take this thing. Like, it\u2019s gonna break her heart.\u2019 They were dressing it, putting clothes on it.\u201d<\/p>\n

From Conversation Piece to Family Fixture<\/strong>
\nThe raccoon \u2014 taxidermied by Shelton\u2019s cousin over 30 years ago \u2014 went home with the Dalys, where it quickly became both a beloved and startling presence. \u201cIt\u2019s in our house now, scares the crap out of everybody,\u201d Daly told his\u00a0TODAY<\/em>\u00a0co-anchors, revealing that London named the unusual new addition \u201cRaccoony.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shelton, never missing a chance to rib his friends, joked that Daly had managed to avoid buying his kids a real pet. \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Oh my God, man, they\u2019re so into this taxidermied raccoon,\u2019\u201d Shelton laughed.<\/p>\n

The Raccoon Backstory \u2014 and a Childhood Connection<\/strong>
\nWhile Daly\u2019s\u00a0TODAY<\/em>\u00a0colleague Craig Melvin couldn\u2019t resist asking if Raccoony had once been Shelton\u2019s pet, Daly clarified that it wasn\u2019t. Still, the gift had an oddly personal connection \u2014 Shelton revealed he had a pet raccoon named Seagram growing up in Ada, Oklahoma.<\/p>\n

As for why London\u2019s heart was stolen by a stuffed woodland creature? Daly offered a simple explanation: \u201cShe\u2019s scared of dogs. So she gravitates towards raccoons.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Friendship Filled with Laughs<\/strong>
\nFor fans of\u00a0The Voice<\/em>, the story is peak Blake-and-Carson: heartfelt generosity wrapped in a layer of humor and just the right amount of mischief. Raccoony may not be alive, but thanks to Shelton\u2019s gift, it\u2019s become a living part of the Daly household lore \u2014 surprising guests and, more importantly, making London smile.<\/p>\n
