When it comes to life on the range, Blake Shelton does things his own way\u2014sometimes to hilarious extremes. The country music superstar is known for his quick wit, and he recently raised eyebrows (and a few laughs) with his tongue-in-cheek \u201chouse rule\u201d at the 1,300-acre Oklahoma ranch he shares with his wife, Gwen Stefani.<\/p>\n

Blake\u2019s go-to ritual for relaxation after long stretches on the road? Blasting Blake Shelton music, and nothing but Blake Shelton music.<\/p>\n

\u201cI crank all of my music all the time,\u201d he joked on Taste of Country Nights. \u201cTwenty-four hours of Blake Shelton going on at Blake Shelton\u2019s house, come on in.\u201d While it\u2019s classic Blake humor and most fans suspect he\u2019s only half-serious, it wouldn\u2019t be out of character for the star to keep his own tunes on heavy rotation.<\/p>\n

But what does Gwen Stefani, a music icon in her own right, make of this self-indulgent playlist? As it turns out, Blake is a genuine fan of Gwen\u2019s solo hits and her work with No Doubt, listing favorites like \u201cCool,\u201d \u201cHella Good,\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s My Life,\u201d and \u201cHey Baby.\u201d Their life together is an ongoing musical mashup, even if Blake jokingly claims the speakers are all \u201cShelton, all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Oklahoma ranch has become a second home for Gwen and her three sons\u2014Apollo, 11, Zuma, almost 17, and Kingston, 19\u2014who split their time between Los Angeles and the countryside. For boys raised amid the bright lights and bustle of LA, their first days in Oklahoma brought a dose of culture shock.<\/p>\n

Blake recalled on Country Radio Seminar in 2022, \u201cThe two of them were like, \u2018Well, what do we do now?\u2019 I go, \u2018Go out that door and don\u2019t come back till you\u2019re too tired to go any further.\u2019\u201d The freedom to roam creeks, turn over rocks, or jump in a buggy was a new adventure. Blake took the lead in teaching them how to fish, start campfires, and throw hatchets\u2014though he admits those last two activities can get a little wild. \u201cWhen it comes to burning things, starting fires, and throwing hatchets. You better get out of the way!\u201d he quipped.<\/p>\n

For Gwen, Oklahoma wasn\u2019t an obvious next chapter. \u201cI had no idea myself that it was such an amazing place,\u201d she told Jimmy Kimmel. But she\u2019s found a new kind of magic in the rolling fields and wide-open skies\u2014plus the bonus of seeing \u201cthose eyes under the Oklahoma stars\u201d every night.<\/p>\n

So while Blake\u2019s \u201cabsurd\u201d rule about the ranch playlist might make Gwen roll her eyes (or hit skip on the speakers), it\u2019s all part of the playful give-and-take that keeps their unexpected love story going strong. Whether it\u2019s country roads or California dreams, this duo has found their perfect harmony\u2014one quirky rule at a time.<\/p>\n
