In a charming August 2016 interview on\u00a0Late Night with Seth Meyers<\/em>, Shelton shared how unfamiliar he was with Stefani\u2019s music at the start of their relationship\u2014and how that quickly changed during a simple car ride. \u201cShe genuinely, like, outside of a couple of songs, really had to start learning [from the beginning], \u2019cause she\u2019s just not in that world,\u201d Shelton said of Stefani\u2019s initial unfamiliarity with country music. But when it came to him, Shelton admitted, \u201cI didn\u2019t think I knew much of her music.\u201d<\/p>\n

That all changed during a trip to pick her up from the airport in Oklahoma. While flipping through XM radio, Shelton suddenly stopped on a song and thought,\u00a0\u201cThat sounds like Gwen. What in the hell is this? Why don\u2019t I know this?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0The song was No Doubt\u2019s hit \u201cIt\u2019s My Life.\u201d \u201cHoly hell, I didn\u2019t know Gwen sang that song,\u201d he told Meyers, marveling at how many hits he hadn\u2019t realized were hers. \u201cI\u2019ve always known \u2018Hey Baby.\u2019 I didn\u2019t know she sang that freakin\u2019 song. All these songs! It\u2019s like, \u2018Wow, that was you? AND we\u2019ve kissed? Wow! That\u2019s amazing!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

It was a moment of rediscovery and renewed admiration\u2014as if Shelton was falling for Stefani all over again. \u201cI still can\u2019t believe it,\u201d he joked during the interview. \u201cI think she might have some vision problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stefani\u2019s own take on Shelton\u2019s music was equally honest. When she appeared on\u00a0Late Night with Seth Meyers<\/em>\u00a0in 2020, she revealed, \u201cI didn\u2019t know Blake Shelton existed before I went on that show [The Voice<\/em>].\u201d The two first connected during Season 7 of\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0in 2014, but it wasn\u2019t until Season 9 in 2015, when both were single, that they began dating. Their relationship blossomed quickly, leading to their engagement in October 2020 and marriage on July 3, 2021, officiated by\u00a0The Voice<\/em>\u00a0host Carson Daly.<\/p>\n

Since then, the couple has embraced their musical differences, collaborating on several hit duets including \u201cYou Make It Feel Like Christmas,\u201d \u201cNobody But You,\u201d \u201cHappy Anywhere,\u201d \u201cGo Ahead and Break My Heart,\u201d and \u201cHangin\u2019 On.\u201d They\u2019ve also written songs inspired by each other, like Stefani\u2019s 2024 single \u201cPretty.\u201d<\/p>\n
