The show, which blends the grit of real-life touring with the excitement of a music contest, has officially set its premiere date for Sunday, October 19.<\/p>\n

Executive produced by Shelton, Sheridan, Lee Metzger, and David Glasser,\u00a0The Road<\/em>\u00a0promises an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to succeed on the country music circuit. Keith Urban headlines the series as the main act, while 12 emerging musicians get their chance in the spotlight as his opening performers. The contestants will be guided by \u201ctour manager\u201d Gretchen Wilson, who will provide advice and support throughout the competition.<\/p>\n

    Keith Urban, reflecting on his own rise in the music industry, expressed enthusiasm for the show\u2019s concept. \u201cI spent a lot of my underage life playing in some seedy pubs, sometimes just for the bartender. So I love the idea of throwing artists into a real-world environment to find out if they are artists,\u201d he said. Urban emphasized that touring is where true musicianship is honed, calling it \u201cthe only road to take if you want to be a performer.\u201d<\/p>\n
