Louisiana\u2019s Own John Foster Turns Idol Fame Into a Mission of Hope \u2014 Builds Shelter for Homeless Seniors With His Entire Earnings<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a world where fame often fades fast, American Idol<\/em> Season 23 runner-up John Foster is making his spotlight count \u2014 not for glamor, but for good.<\/p>\n

Just weeks after winning over America with his soulful voice and small-town charm, the 24-year-old country singer has stunned fans once again \u2014 this time with a heart as big as his talent. Instead of spending his six-figure earnings from music deals and endorsements on the usual post-Idol luxuries, Foster poured every penny \u2014 an estimated $100,000 \u2014 into a life-changing project: transforming an abandoned house in his Louisiana hometown into a shelter for homeless elderly people.<\/p>\n

The humble star, who was raised by his grandparents and often credited them during his Idol journey, says the decision was an easy one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI thought about getting a new truck,\u201d Foster joked in a recent interview, \u201cbut then I looked around and thought\u2026 why not build something that lasts longer than wheels?\u201d<\/p>\n

That \u201csomething\u201d is now Grace House: A Home Built by Hope<\/em>, set to open this fall \u2014 a safe haven for seniors with nowhere else to go, built from love, lumber, and one young man\u2019s faith.<\/p>\n

Though Foster didn\u2019t take home the Idol trophy, his journey is far from over. His debut single, Back Porch Prayers<\/em>, is climbing the country charts, and a summer tour is in the works. But even with music success knocking at his door, Foster says his mission is bigger than the stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdol gave me a microphone,\u201d he said. \u201cNow I want to use it to speak for the people who\u2019ve been forgotten.\u201d<\/p>\n
