The Season 23 finale of\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0aired on Sunday, May 18\u2014 and it was all about celebrating the finalists\u00a0John Foster,\u00a0Jamal Roberts, and\u00a0Breanna Nix. But by the night\u2019s end, only one was named the next \u201cAmerican Idol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans were first introduced to Breanna before the season started.\u00a0Idol<\/em>\u00a0shared her audition video a few days early as a sneak peek of the new season.<\/p>\n

Breanna delivered a beautiful rendition of judge\u00a0Carrie Underwood\u2018s \u201cJesus, Take the Wheel.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0During her audition,\u00a0Carrie held Breanna\u2019s son,\u00a0Emerson, and got emotional when Emerson started to doze off in her arms.<\/p>\n

Breanna continued to treat viewers to stunning performances throughout the rest of the season. She poured her heart into covers of songs such as\u00a0\u201cSomething in the Water,\u201d\u00a0\u201cYou\u2019ll Be in My Heart,\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cStill Rolling Stones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thankfully,\u00a0Idol<\/em>\u00a0fans got the chance to hear Breanna sing a few more songs during the finale.<\/p>\n

Breanna Nix Showcases Her Faith In First Solo Performance During\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0Finale<\/h3>\n

First, Breanna sang \u201cWe Are the Champions\u201d with Jamal and John Foster to open the show. Then, each of them took turns singing a solo.<\/p>\n

Those initial solo songs were chosen for each contestant by the season\u2019s artist-in-residence,\u00a0Jelly Roll.\u00a0He picked Katy Nichole\u2019s \u201cIn Jesus Name (God of Possible)\u201d for Breanna, since she has showcased her faith with so much joy throughout the season.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Her moving performance left the\u00a0Idol<\/em>\u00a0judges in awe. Luke Bryan said her delivery was \u201camazingly solid<\/em>\u201d and celebrated her \u201cspecial heart<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lionel Richie said Breanna\u2019s faith and belief \u201chas always shone through<\/em>,\u201d and spoke about how she has a bright future ahead.<\/p>\n

Carrie Underwood, with tears in her eyes, said, \u201cYou just reminded everybody why we love you.<\/em>\u201d She added,\u00a0\u201cGod bless you<\/em>,\u201d after telling Breanna people were listening in that moment who needed to hear the message of faith she just shared.<\/p>\n

Bringing things full circle, just like during her audition, Breanna\u2019s adorable son, Emerson, fell asleep during her performance, adding to the moment\u2019s emotions.<\/strong><\/p>\n
