Jamal Roberts wants to be the next American Idol. The singer expertly made his pitch to America on Sunday\u2019s season 23 finale of the show when he sang\u00a0<\/strong>TEEKS\u2019 2021 track, \u201cFirst Time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer brought the soul for his performance, as he skillfully sang lyrics about love.<\/p>\n

All three judges were on their feet after Roberts\u2019 performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are just so talented,\u201d Carrie Underwood said. \u201c\u2026 You just feel so comfortable and sound so comfortable, and it sounds so good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luke Bryan agreed, before quipping, \u201cWill you teach me how to be that smooth?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I love about you is the way you just navigate the story, it happens to come out of your mouth in brilliant form,\u201d Lionel Richie added.<\/p>\n

Later in the show, Roberts again took the stage, this time to perform The Temptations\u2019 \u201cJust My Imagination (Running Away With Me).\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just have this incredible ability to make things your own, and it all sounds fresh, and new, and fun,\u201d Underwood said, before Bryan called Roberts \u201cone of the most amazing people I\u2019ve ever seen on this show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are divinely guided, my friend,\u201d Richie said.<\/p>\n

It will come down to viewers\u2019 votes to decide if Roberts wins the crown, or if it goes to one of his fellow Top 3 competitors, Breanna Nix and John Foster.<\/p>\n

Jamal Roberts\u2019 New Song<\/h3>\n

Ahead of the finale, the season\u2019s finalists released their new singles. Roberts opted to put out \u201cHeal,\u201d his rendition of Tom Odell\u2019s 2013 song.<\/p>\n

Roberts previously performed the track during the April 28 episode of\u00a0Idol<\/em>, and earned a standing ovation from judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood when he did so.<\/p>\n

\u201cDivinely guided,\u201d Richie said. \u201cDivine!\u201d<\/p>\n
