John Foster went back to his roots for a fun Disney cover during Sunday\u2019s Disney Night on\u00a0American Idol<\/em>.<\/h2>\n

American Idol<\/em>\u00a0Season 23\u2019s first episode of two Disney-themed nights kicked off Sunday (May 11) and featured covers of some of Disney\u2019s hottest songs. The show\u2019s favorite country singer, John Foster, delivered a toe-tapping performance of \u201cAlmost There\u201d from\u00a0Princess and the Frog<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Top 7 hopefuls were mentored by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The actor and Broadway star told Fosterto \u201cchannel your inner rock star\u201d and \u201clean into America and go, \u2018America, I\u2019m almost there!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

John revealed that he chose \u201cAlmost There\u201d because it was set in his home state of Louisiana.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a movie that was set entirely in Louisiana, my home state that I\u2019m so proud of. So I wanted to do \u2018Almost There\u2019 for my home state,\u201d John said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ahead of his performance, John admitted that he was homesick for Louisiana and is looking forward to returning to see his family. But, he knows that it would be a great disservice to those who have supported him to \u201clay off the pedal right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

John took the stage without his signature guitar and delivered a performance that showcased his incredible vocals.<\/p>\n

Judges Respond To John Foster\u2019s\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0Performance<\/h3>\n

Lionel Richie was the first to speak up after John\u2019s performance. He asked the singer,\u00a0\u201cWho do you think you are?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0to which the crowd responded with thunderous applause.\u00a0\u201cThat was amazing! The crowd spoke for me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Carrie Underwood said,\u00a0\u201cYou are another one that, it\u2019s like no matter what you do, John Foster is John Foster. And whatever genre, you brought it to you. You dressed like you. You sound like you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cCharisma. Charisma. Charisma. Smiling under that cowboy hat. That\u2019s why you\u2019re still here,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Luke Bryan said.<\/p>\n

Fans seem to agree about\u00a0John Foster. If streams and video views mean anything, the talented 18-year-old has a bright future ahead of him. In recent weeks of competition, his videos have been streamed more than any other\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0hopeful this season.<\/p>\n
