Reba McEntire,\u00a0Miranda Lambert, and\u00a0Lainey Wilson\u00a0joined forces at the\u00a0ACM Awards<\/em>\u00a0for one of the most meaningful collaborations country music has ever heard.<\/p>\n On Wednesday (May 7), the ACM\u00a0shared the exciting news\u00a0that the trio of stars would deliver the world premiere of a brand-new song during its annual awards ceremony on May 8. Titled \u201cTrailblazer,\u201d the track celebrates the influential female artists of country music\u2019s past and present.<\/p>\n Lambert and Wilson co-wrote the track with Brandy Clark. They cried as they wrote it, and McEntire cried when she heard it for the first time.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember listening to it in the dressing room. I couldn\u2019t find a flaw in it, not a word,\u201d McEntire\u00a0told Billboard. \u201cIt was that great. I was very emotional when I heard it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The song offers shout-outs to iconic women in country music such as\u00a0Patsy Cline,\u00a0Dolly Parton, and\u00a0Loretta Lynn. It also includes callouts to McEntire, Lambert, and Wilson\u2019s personal histories and\u00a0home states.<\/p>\n But Wilson says they hope listeners will connect with \u201cTrailblazer\u201d on an even deeper level:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI remember thinking that this could be a song that a grandmother and a daughter and a grandchild could listen to, she said. And not just about the history of country music\u2026 If we\u2019re not thinking about the people that we\u2019re singing to then they\u2019re not going to be able to relate.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Lambert doubled down on Wilson\u2019s comments, saying:<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not about us.
