NASCAR rival opens up on \u2018chance\u2019 encounter with Kyle Busch days before his death<\/h3>\n<\/header>\n<\/div>\n

Before\u00a0Kyle Busch\u2019s sudden death, fellow NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski had a grim encounter with him aboard a plane.<\/p>\n

Busch, 41, was flying to Dover earlier this month when\u00a0he and his rival\u00a0had what Keselowski described as a \u201cchance\u201d run-in.<\/p>\n

However, Busch \u2014\u00a0who ultimately died last week of severe pneumonia\u00a0that progressed into sepsis \u2014 evidently wasn\u2019t doing great during the flight.<\/p>\n

Brad Keselowski said that he had a \u201cchance\u201d encounter with Busch on a plane before his death.AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\u201cKyle is normally a fairly gregarious person, very outgoing \u2014 and he wasn\u2019t,\u201d Keselowski told\u00a0PEOPLE.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe sat down one row behind me and next to me and fell asleep right away and I could tell he wasn\u2019t feeling well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Busch\u2019s last race was the NASCAR All-Star Race on May 17, in which he finished 17th and Keselowski finished 10th.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that was pretty much the last time I saw him,\u201d Keselowski told People of their plane encounter. \u201cWe were in a race and you get in a race and you don\u2019t really see each other. So I saw him on the racetrack.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to his death, Busch\u2019s family announced that he had been hospitalized with a \u201csevere illness.\u201d<\/p>\n

It had been mentioned on the May 10 broadcast of the Watkins Glen race that Busch\u00a0was dealing with a sinus issue.<\/p>\n

And sources later told the Associated Press that he became unresponsive while testing a racing simulator the day before his death.<\/p>\n

Busch and Keselowski had been fierce rivals on the track, and the latter admitted he\u2019d thought of what their relationship would be once their racing days were over.<\/p>\n
