After the Team Bubl\u00e9 contestant was\u00a0declared the winner\u00a0for season 26 of\u00a0The Voice<\/em>, the duo opened up about the emotional moment with PEOPLE \u2014 and Vasquez teased his coach for texting after the victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really emotional because I am not just winning this on my own. I feel like I am honoring the best gift ever, which is my coach,\u201d Vasquez tells PEOPLE exclusively.<\/p>\n

For the Canadian crooner, the win marked many important firsts for the show. (Vasquez is the first Filipino and Asian winner in the singing competition show\u2019s history).<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about representation. Because at the end of the day we represent our countries, our family, our faith, our friends,\u201d Bubl\u00e9, 49, says. \u201cWe represent an incredible, iconic television show that\u2019s now had 26 seasons [and] has a ton of integrity and so much care.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues, \u201cWe knew that this wasn\u2019t about winning a cup. This was about the start of career.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Canadian crooner believes there are real \u201cstars\u201d on this season of\u00a0The Voice<\/em>, and he can\u2019t wait to see where they go.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if every season is like this, but this is a star,\u201d he says of Vasquez. \u201cShye is a star. [It] wasn\u2019t in the plan for her to win, but she\u2019s a winner, and I can\u2019t wait for you to hear them both.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he feels any pressure going into next season with fellow coaches\u00a0John Legend,\u00a0Adam Levine\u00a0and\u00a0Kelsea Ballerini\u00a0\u2014 the \u201cHome\u201d singer assures he\u2019s ready to go.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve already been texting Adam tonight,\u201d he says enthusiastically.<\/p>\n

Then, Vasquez called out his coach out for doing it: \u201cI caught you texting\u2026 I was like, \u2018Why are you texting?’\u201d he teases.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was texting Levine!\u201d he responds. \u201cBy the way, this season has been amazing with\u00a0Snoop [Dogg],\u00a0Reba [McEntire]\u00a0and\u00a0Gwen [Stefani]. They\u2019re such beautiful people. But [season] 27 man, Levine and John Legend\u2026 John Legend EGOT winner? God, I\u2019m just a few awards behind him. And Kelsea Ballerini? Oh my God, I\u2019ve got bragging rights.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Tuesday night, Vasquez beat out his fellow Bubl\u00e9 contestant Shye,\u00a0Team Reba\u2019s Danny Joseph, Team Snoop\u2019s Jeremy Beloate and\u00a0Team Gwen\u2019s Sydney Sterlace.<\/p>\n

After his name was called, Vasquez \u2014 a four-chair turn during his blind audition \u2014 fell to his knees and burst into tears.<\/p>\n

When asked where he plans to keep his trophy, Vasquez says \u201cprobably in my bed.\u201d<\/p>\n
