(Photo credit: American Idol\/YouTube)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>John Foster learned Monday night (April 21) that he earned enough of America\u2019s votes to join the\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>\u00a0Season 23 Top 14!<\/h2>\n<p>During Sunday\u2019s\u00a0<em>American Idol<\/em>\u00a0\u201cSongs of Faith\u201d Easter special, country singer John Foster brought one of the most-watched performances of the night. Foster sang\u00a0\u201cTell That Angel I Love Her,\u201d\u00a0a song he wrote as a tribute to two friends, Maggie Dunn and Caroline Gill, who died in December of 2022. The pair perished when the car they were traveling in was struck by a police officer who ran a red light.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of Foster\u2019s performance, he said, \u201cI love you, Maggie.\u201d John fought back tears and tried to compose himself as the judges addressed his performance. He explained the story behind the song to the judges and pointed out that Maggie and Caroline\u2019s parents were in the audience.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Foster\u2019s performance resonated with viewers who praised him for his vulnerability and called it the best performance of the night.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI don\u2019t even remotely like country, but that was the best of the night!\u201d one viewer wrote. Another added, \u201cGreat job John Foster! I think America got to see your heart and soul tonight.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>America came through for\u00a0John Foster\u00a0and voted him into the Top 14.<\/h3>\n<p>Foster learned his fate during Monday night\u2019s results show. Ryan Seacrest informed the singer that he was one of the ten contestants who earned enough votes to advance into the Top 14. The judges\u2019 wildcard picks will fill the other four spots.<\/p>\n<p>John then took the stage to sing Brooks &amp; Dunn\u2019s \u201cNeon Moon,\u201d a song that perfectly complemented his country vocals.
