The two have been married since April 2018, and Devon held down the fort with their three children while\u00a0Hannah pursued\u00a0her singing dreams on\u00a0<em>Idol<\/em>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-4\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.newsweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/181731_EM209254.jpg?w=1600&amp;h=900&amp;q=88\" alt=\"American Idol' Judges Celebrate Hannah Harper After Season 24 Win - Newsweek\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The whole family was with Hannah in Los Angeles for two months during the Live Shows, and Hannah told\u00a0<em>Swooon<\/em>\u00a0that being able to lean on Devon after every performance was the most important part of having him there.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.realitytvshrine.com\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Celines-featured-images-1483.png\" alt=\"Inside American Idol star Hannah Harper's wholesome family life\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-5\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cJust the emotional weight at the end of each night \u2026 just being able to take it off and be like, \u2018Here you go,\u2019 and he would take it every single week,\u201d Hannah says. \u201cThat was probably the best. I was thankful I had that. Most of the other contestants were carrying it until the end of the competition, and it was like a blanket that I got to take off each night. We were worshipping, though, and it was really good. So I opened my eyes, and all of the contestants were behind me, so I was looking for my husband. It took me a minute to find him. But he came onto the stage within minutes, so I got to share that moment with him shortly after.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/american-idol-hannah-harper-husband-devon-mendenhall-1014x570.jpg\" alt=\"American Idol': Hannah Harper on Husband's Support, Kids' Reaction to Her  Win (Exclusive)\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the finale, Hannah and her family returned to Missouri for a hometown parade, and the kids stayed back home when Hannah and Devon returned to Los Angeles for the final push. They still got to share the special victory moment with their mom, though.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy husband FaceTimed them while we were on the stage,\u201d she said with a smile. \u201cThe smallest one was already in bed because it was already 10:30 our time, so it was late. But they were really excited. As soon as I held up the ticket, my 3-year-old was like [gasps]. He has no idea what it is, but he thinks it\u2019s cool.
