The entry, dated just weeks before Lyla was hospitalized for the final time, included a sketch of the\u00a0American Idol<\/em>\u00a0logo and a hand-drawn stage with her father\u2019s name in lights.<\/p>\n

Shocked and emotional, Roberts decided on the spot that he would honor his daughter\u2019s dream\u2014even though he had never performed in front of more than a few family members. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t about me being good enough.
