Long before their divorce, Shelton and Lambert faced\u00a0rumors of relationship strife. He said none of this bothered him. In fact, he embraced it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love it,\u201d Shelton said on\u00a0CBS This Morning<\/em>, per HuffPost. \u201cI honestly do love it. I just know, to have that kind of coverage, if I\u2019m popular enough they want to put me and Miranda on that stuff \u2014 that\u2019s awesome. I have an album coming out! Put my album right next to it and pick it up.\u201d<\/p>\n He said he knew his relationship with Lambert was solid. At that point, he had no intention of moving forward without her.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know that I ever really had any doubts,\u201d he said. \u201cWe had our ups and downs for damn sure along the way. I just could not imagine her not being in my life, I just couldn\u2019t get over her, I know I can\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n Just two years later, Shelton and Lambert announced that they were\u00a0ending their marriage.<\/p>\n \u201cTheir busy schedules were a big issue for them,\u201d a source told\u00a0E! News. \u201cThey both worked a lot and had to spend a lot of time apart. The less time they spent together, the more they grew apart.\u201d<\/p>\n While Shelton said the affair rumors never bothered him, the source claimed they\u00a0became a problem.<\/p>\n \u201cTrust was an issue for both of them,\u201d the source said. \u201cIt went along with having to spend a lot of time apart. Rumors of infidelity put stress on them. Despite denials, even just rumors of cheating are still hard to hear.\u201d<\/p>\n When Shelton announced his divorce to the judges on\u00a0The Voice<\/em>, Gwen Stefani seemed\u00a0particularly moved by his words. Afterward, she told him that she was experiencing a similar situation.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought it was going to be another one of those things-are-going-to-be-OK talks,\u201d he told\u00a0Billboard. \u201cShe didn\u2019t tell me much, because we didn\u2019t know each other at the time, but she said, \u2018I\u2019m going through something very similar to what you\u2019re going through. I understand. And I hate it.\u2019 That\u2019s kind of how our friendship and bond started, that day.\u201d<\/p>\n Their connection eventually turned romantic.
