When Bubl\u00e9 proposed to Lopilato in November 2009, a lot of thought and preparation went into how he\u2019d pop the question.<\/p>\n

First, as he shared with\u00a0Cosmopolitan\u00a0<\/em>in 2014, he had learned Spanish to better communicate with her and also asked her father for his blessing. And when he was ready to ask her to marry him, he did so in front of her family in Argentina.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was so nervous before I asked my wife to marry me. It was the scariest decision of my life,\u201d he told the magazine. \u201cI did it in front of her family, who are Argentinian, and I\u2019d learnt Spanish specially. That was the scariest part \u2014 being in front of them and asking her father\u2019s permission beforehand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lopilato recalled in a 2012 interview with\u00a0The Mail on Sunday<\/em>\u00a0that she was caught off guard when Bubl\u00e9 asked her, in Spanish, to marry him as they were having dinner with her whole family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought he was joking and he said, still in Spanish, \u2018No, really. I really want to marry you,\u2019 and then he took out the ring and gave it to me,\u201d she said. \u201cI still thought he was joking. Then I noticed that my mother was crying, my sister was crying, even my father was crying, and I thought, \u2018This is real because my father never cries.\u2019 So I started to cry too. I loved that he proposed that way \u2014\u00a0I am a family girl and it was perfect that he said it in front of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lovebirds had kept their engagement a secret for two months before\u00a0Bubl\u00e9\u2019s rep confirmed the news\u00a0to the media, who said in a statement at the time, \u201cThey\u2019re ecstatic. They\u2019re adorable, in love and laugh all day long.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michael Bubl\u00e9 and Luisana Lopilato got married in 2011<\/h2>\n

Bubl\u00e9 and Lopilato got married on March 31, 2011 in a civil ceremony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, their first of three weddings that year where the actress wore a stunning\u00a0lilac purple dress.<\/p>\n

In the following weeks and months, the couple hosted another larger wedding in Argentina and one more in Vancouver where they celebrated with their friends and families. In 2011, Bubl\u00e9 told\u00a0Entertainment Tonight Canada<\/em>, per\u00a0The Toronto Star<\/em>, that having multiple wedding celebrations brought their families together and was \u201cjust another excuse to celebrate our love, have a few drinks, and to dance all night.\u201d Indeed, Bubl\u00e9 said they \u201cdanced \u2018til 7 a.m.\u201d at their Argentinian reception.<\/p>\n

Two years into their marriage, Bubl\u00e9 sat down for an interview on\u00a0TODAY<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0Hoda Kotb\u00a0and\u00a0Kathie Lee Gifford\u00a0and discussed what he realized was different now that they were husband and wife.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know that any man really wants to get married. I mean, do we really? We do it because we love the person,\u201d he said in 2012. \u201cBut then once I got married, everything changed because she became my family. I love her, I love her family, too. She\u2019s my family.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Bubl\u00e9 used to think marriage was more of a legality, marrying Lopilato made him realize he had it wrong. \u201cSomething definitely changed,\u201d he told Kotb and Gifford about saying \u201cI do\u201d to his wife. \u201cI didn\u2019t know that that\u2019s what marriage brought was that kind of deep connection.
