Olympic,\u00a0world and European champions\u00a0Laurence Fournier Beaudry<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Guillaume Cizeron<\/strong>\u00a0had not left a single event empty-handed in the 2025-26 season, and the\u00a02026 ISU Figure Skating Awards<\/strong>\u00a0were no exception.<\/p>\n

Held on Sunday (29 March) in Prague, Czechia, the annual event wrapped up the Olympic\u00a0figure skating\u00a0season the day after the last competition at the\u00a02026 ISU World Figure Skating Championships<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The most coveted award, for\u00a0\u201cSkater(s) of the Year\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0went to\u00a0Saturday night\u2019s victors, France\u2019s ice dancersFournier Beaudry and Cizeron, whose debut season together set numerous historical milestones and culminated in gold at the\u00a0Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026<\/strong>\u00a0and a world title.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really proud of ourselves and what we\u2019ve achieved this season,\u201d Cizeron said from the stage. \u201cIt\u2019s been a great lesson for us to believe that we can achieve more and that we can choose our own journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really unexpected \u2013 as much as the [unexpectedness] of us skating together but life brought us together and we took the risk,\u201d Fournier Beaudry added. \u201cIt was a beautiful risk and we enjoyed training together every day. I think without the team that we had behind us for the entire season we would not be there and we would not have achieved the results that we did this season. we\u2019re all stronger as a team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s 17-year-old\u00a0Nakai Ami<\/strong>, who won an Olympic bronze medal in the same season when she made her senior debut, was named\u00a0\u201cBest\u00a0Newcomer\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis season was my first one in the senior rank. I went to the world championships and the Olympics and was able to medal at the Olympics so I\u2019m very, very proud of myself for that,\u201d Nakai said via an interpreter. \u201cAnd next season I\u2019ll be challenging myself even more and I would like to end it with a smile on my face like I did this season.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
