The singer, 47, said he has learnt to be \u2018present\u2019 and live in the moment more after his nine-year-old son Noah was diagnosed at the age of three with\u00a0hepatoblastoma.<\/p>\n
Noah had to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy following his diagnosis and is now in remission since 2017.<\/p>\n
At the time, Michael cancelled his tour to priorities his family and said he \u2018was as strong as he could possible be under the circumstances\u2019.<\/p>\n
Speaking with\u00a0The Big Issue, he said:\u00a0\u2018I had the right priorities but if I could give advice to my younger self at any point, through all of the good or bad times in my career and my home life, I\u2019d say, be more present.<\/p>\n

\u2018I spent so much time worrying about the future, or even the past. Now I tell my kids all the time, we cannot change what we\u2019ve done. And we have no control about what is going to happen in the future. So all we can do is be in the moment and be as present as possible. If we can do that we will live a happy life.\u2019<\/p>\n
The four-time Grammy Award winner went on to gush over his four children, Noah, Elias, seven, Vida, four, and Cielo, eight months, who he said he \u2018falls in love with\u2019 everyday.<\/p>\n
He added:\u00a0\u2018With my kids, I feel like I\u2019ve met different children in each one as they\u2019ve grown. I started with a wonderful fat little baby and I fell in love with every little fold over their ankles. And then I fell in love again when they turned one. Then I fell in love with the little three-year-old pre-schooler. And this morning I kissed my nine-year-old son and I fell in love with him again.\u2019<\/p>\n
Family is clearly important to the I Haven\u2019t Met You Yet singer, who reflected on the sweet time he spent with his grandma when she was\u00a0diagnosed with Alzheimer\u2019s.<\/p>\n
Michael gushed over his \u2018wonderful\u2019 grandparents and revealed he would sing with his grandma after she was diagnosed with the brain disorder which slowly destroys memory and thinking skills.<\/p>\n
The singer said that despite her \u2018forgetting so many things, she never forgot the lyrics of songs\u2019 and the pair would dance around the kitchen together.<\/p>\n
Michael, who shares his four children with wife Luisana Lopilato, recently admitted that he hasn\u2019t let fame and fortune go to his head.<\/p>\n

The hitmaker, who has an estimated\u00a0net worth<\/span>\u00a0of $80M (\u00a365M), admitted his kids all go to the same state school that he once did.<\/p>\n He\u00a0shared that he does the school run with the same pals he met in childhood, who also haven\u2019t moved from the area.<\/p>\n And after enjoying a childhood attending state school\u00a0Seaforth Elementary, Michael told\u00a0The Guardian\u00a0that his own little ones now do the same.<\/p>\n The Higher singer likes to stay true to his humble beginnings, and shares that he \u2018remembers everything\u2019 about attending the district school.<\/p>\n Noting that it still has some of the same teachers, he told The Guardian\u2019s G2: \u2018There\u2019s this smell of all the hallways, I still remember everything.<\/p>\n \u2018Same teachers, the kids that I went to school with are the same people I walk my kids to school with now. The first time was probably a strange moment for them, and for me, too.\u2019<\/p>\n Adding that he doesn\u2019t like to come across as\u00a0conceited, Michael continued that he spends time at the pub with other parents.<\/p>\n He said: \u2018You don\u2019t want to act like you think you\u2019re something special, you don\u2019t want to be too aloof. No we\u2019re drinking at the pub. We\u2019re going golfing. It\u2019s funny how quickly that happens.
